During our visit to Sonoma, we took a drive along Highway 1 to the Sonoma Coast Beach. The views were beautiful! You won't want to miss a stop at Goat Rock Beach! It's a bit chilly and windy so you will want to bring a sweatshirt. Be sure to drive to the beach and park your car. There are so many opportunities for you to take amazing pictures. As you drive down route 1 you will come to Bodega Bay. You won't want to miss a stop at the Tides restaurant for a bite to eat. The Alfred Hitchcock movie, The Birds, was filmed here. Be sure to drive by the church too. Definitely a nice day trip away from the wineries.

We drove from Bodega Bay to the Sonoma Coast Beach 9/5. We didn't camp, but stopped along the beautiful, scenic drive. This is an absolute must drive.

This campground was okay...just okay. We had made reservations and were somewhat disappointed. Sites are small...don't expect to put up a tent and park a car/truck. We were in a pickup and camper. Beware to families: Not a place to take kids; very dangerous beach with severe undertows. Disappointed, too, in the restrooms...no showers. Camp host was "off duty" and not around so we couldn't buy any firewood.Continue up the coast and you can find nicer campgrounds; go to Mendocino/Fort Bragg area for great scenery and better beaches. However, if you want to go to Wright's Beach, make sure you have reservations. But, I really would look for another campground... We are very avid/frequent campers who love the ocean, but we won't go there again.

This is a great way to see the coast and Califrnia's famed Higheay 1. This short stretch of road between Jenner and Bodega Bay gives plenty of great views and stops on the coast. The variety of this county is best captured in a drive to and from the center of the county to the coast.

We had a fabulous time camping here. Right on the Beach and the kids loved it. The stars came out at night and it was just perfect. Sites 1-10 are beach front!!
