“Great Spot for Sparkling Wine”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

The view from this winery was outstanding. Also, walk around the tasting room to see some of the caves and the accolades that Gloria Ferrar has received about their wines.

“Not that great”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

I was really looking forward to our visit here and it was not as good as I had hoped. The views on the patio were nice but it was chilly and windy that day so it would have been nice if they had patio heaters. The toasted almonds were a pleasant surprise. We had one glass of champagne and left. I probably wouldn't go back again.

“Good, not great, kind of impersonal”
Reviewed February 12, 2013

This was one of the first wineries we hit on a recent trip to Sonoma, it was highly rated by many of the websites. You dont stand at a wine bar here, rather, you sit at a table and they wait on you. We hoped to sit outside but it was pretty packed out there so we ended up inside. Our server was kind of impersonal but efficient, we would rather interact with someone and ask questions while we were tasting.

They had one Sparkling Wine we liked and the older Chardonnay (2009 I believe) was good too. We ended up leaving with 2 bottles but didnt particularly care for the overall experience. Next trip we wont likely visit the vineyard but might look for a bottle of their Chardonnay at a local liquor store.

“Exquisite”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

It was a very hot summer day and the road trip had been long and tiring mostly due to having to squint against the sun even with dark glasses. We saw the signs as we approached the great gates. They said "Gloria Ferrer". Both of us said "yes" at the same time and we pulled into the long winding driveway. At the top of the hill we stopped and got out of the car. You don't know the meaning of hot until you experience such a summer day in Sonoma! We entered the coolness of the tasting room and breathed a huge sigh of relief. After cooling off we ordered two glasses of their Champagneois sparkling wine. We would designate it champagne if it weren't for the rules and regulations of the French wine authorities. Having stabilized our body temperatures we opted to have our glasses outside on the open air balcony overlooking the vineyard. The heat hit us like an open furnace but when they brought out our two glasses of champagne it was like being bathed in a cool waterfall. The sparkling light gold drink was glorious and amazing. Drinking it on that balcony in the hot sun while gazing at the vines wavering in the hot summer sun was a magical experience that I will never forget. It is well worth the trip to experience Gloria's fabulous nectar.

“Lovely tour”
Reviewed December 8, 2012 via mobile

Great winery tour by a very informative guide. The place was not busy so our tour was private for just the four of us. I recommend visiting in October when the winery is more active. Tastings throughout the tour were delish!
