My husband and I visited Sonoma for our 30th wedding anniversary, and we decided that we wanted a private wine tour instead of a group one. I found Valley Wine Tours on the web and booked one for the two of us. We had never been on a wine tour before and were looking forward to an educational and a great experience. We were not disappointed! Bob, our tour guide, picked us up promptly at 10. We visited five wineries--Cline Cellars, Larson Family Winery, Robeldo Family Winery, Eric Ross, and Loxton Cellars. Bob was so knowledgeable about the wineries and the wines and shared all this with us. Each winery had its own charm, and we tasted some amazing wines and bought many of them. At Robledo, we had a private tasting of their wines and then a lovely freshly prepared vineyard lunch of Insalata Caprese, mixed locally-sourced olives, freshly baked sourdough baguette, a platter filled with turkey, ham, and artisan cheeses, and a Sonoma-baked cheese torte. Our lunch was served on china and cloth napkins and placed on a linen-draped tablecloth--wonderful! That was my favorite winery--such an interesting family history. We liked them and their wine so much we joined their wine club. The price was affordable and the service irreproachable. I highly recommend VWT and its customized tours. Thanks, Bob!
