I stayed here on a recent wine tasting getaway with 2 friends. We stayed in Room 19 -which has 2 queen beds. You can tell that the property has been around for a while, but it is well kept and we thought it was charming. The staff that we encountered were very pleasant and helpful.

The bathroom was recently remodeled and the room was pretty spacious as it was a corner unit.

The location was perfect and parking was plentiful.

We picked this over some others mainly because they did not require a 2 night minimum and the price was right.

If I need a place to stay in Solvang again, I would definitely consider the Solvang Gardens again.

My wife and I were looking for an inexpensive hotel to stay at midweek, while in Solvang. The hotel (more correctly, a motel) had a high rating, so we figured it was worth a try. We stayed there for a couple of nights.

It's an older motel that's been well maintained and has a nice courtyard and shared cottage, where guests can congregate and mingle, in the back. There are three sections of rooms- the front (facing the street), the middle, where the parking lot is, and the garden units. We stayed in the middle area, as opposed to the "garden" units, so I cannot speak for the other units. Parking can be somewhat of a challenge, as there is not an abundance of spaces to be found. It gives pause to getting in your car and leaving for dinner, for fear that you won't get a decent parking space, when you get back.

Our room felt kind of old and tired, although the bathroom looked as though it had recently undergone some remodeling, but all-in-all, the decor of the room was seriously outdated. Our unit had an additional sitting room, where there was a refrigerator and a chaise lounge chair- it proved to be a nice place to go, if we needed some privacy to talk on the cell phone. The room itself has no telephone.

Other amenities the motel had to offer included a decent tube TV (with remote), free wi-fi (when it was working) and an electric fireplace/heater, in addition to the wall heater unit. The wireless internet was difficult to use, as it would refuse to connect, most of the time. The bed was not up to par with any of the other hotels I've stayed at for the past few years- it was hard and lumpy. The pillows were unbelievably hard (and thick), but the staff was happy to help search down replacement pillows without a fuss. The comforter had stains on it, which lent to an even more unclean perception of the room. Other than that, the room was primped and cleaned as good as it could be.

Their breakfast was seriously lacking. You would think that in a town famous for it's Danish pastries, there would be something nice to have for breakfast, but no- they only offered strudels (if you're lucky, there might be two flavors to pick from), some dry cereal, orange juice and coffee (a Folgers equivalent). They advertise fruit on their permanently posted menu, but the on one of the days, there was no fruit available. Breakfast was a let down.

Still, for the price that you pay, you get a clean room, sometimes working wireless access, some food to get you going in the morning, and we felt safe there. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Would I stay there again? With the price of all the other hotels in the area so insanely high, I do believe that I would stay there again.

They accomodated all our necessity. Great place. The room was very clean. The fireplace made the ambient really romantic and warm.

We stayed in Solvang Gardens in August for 3 days. The Lodge is located just steps from all of the shops and restaurants in Solvang without any of the noise associated with a main drag. The gardens were lovely and the perfect place to try the bottle of wine you purchased earlier in the day or just take in the scenery while having a picnic lunch. The well-appointed room we stayed in had separate seating and sleeping areas and a gorgeous bathroom. The rooms come with continental breakfast featuring some of the specialties from the local bakery's. Yum. The owner and employees were very helpful and the best hosts. We highly recommend the Solvang Gardens Lodge and hope to return for more memorable visits.

We just spent 3 lovely days at Solvang gardens. We were there for a friends party and spent our days wine tasting. The English garden in the back was perfect for sitting around with a picnic and de-escalating.
Whole town is spendy, so be prepared to pay for what you are getting.

Room Tip: Suites were not much better or bigger than rooms. All seemed equally cute and well equiped
