Hans Christian Andersen Museum
Ranked #13 of 39 things to do in Solvang
Attraction details
Reviewed September 2, 2013

I'm giving them an "A" for effort. It is a really small display room and it's in a dusty upstairs back room. I love the smell of old bookstores and my husband and I enjoyed looking around the book collection and learning more about Hans. The lady sitting back there was sweet. If you are walking around Solvang it's worth popping in getting a cup of coffee and looking around. Not really something you want to make a special trip for though. Since it's FREE I'm giving it an Excellent rating. I mean... why not?

Informative displays on the upper floor of a bookshop. Nice to spend a bit of time and learn some of the history of Anderson and his works

Is tucked away above book store and coffee shop, has some interesting history on Hans Christen Anderson, and his life. Also a collection of his books, letters, and other artifacts. interesting to read and learn about his background and life.

If you are passing the museum is worth going in to look around, there is no cast for admission, but would not make a special trip to Solvang just to see the museum. There is not enough there to make the trip worthwhile, unless you are a die hard HCA fan.

We stumbled upon this while visiting the Book Loft. It is located in the same building as the bookstore and coffee shop so quite convenient. Very small displays, somewhat cluttered, and nothing really modern here but the thought was appreciated. I was surprised that the staff member at the desk did not greet me as a walked through the displays.

Hopefully they can do some upgrading to appeal to modern families unless that's not the target audience.
