Group of (6) had dinner last week. Weren't too impressed with the entree's options so we opted to just order a handful of appettizers and share amongst the group. Ceviche was great and the pork belly was tasty. Salmon Pizza was avg. We did order the ribeye which was marinated and tender. Service was a little slow but i think it was more b/c of the waiter since i seemed to notice other servers walking around often. Bar area was full and outdoor dining area was nice although a little cool in the evenings. Would try again.

We had a group of 8 for dinner and were seated in a separate room (a local merchant later exclaimed to us: "Ooooh! You got to eat in the GLASS room!") which was beautifully decorated and was a hint of things to come. Our server was knowledgeable about every item on the creative menu and didn't steer me wrong when she recommended the lamb---absolutely delicious! Everyone in our party raved about their meals, as well. The bar areas and other dining rooms were decorated in a modern, yet warm and "Zen-like" way...soothing colors, beautifully-shaped, "touchable" furniture, orchids, etc. There is also an outdoor patio with fireplace. The restaurant was fairly full when we arrived and we overheard people complimenting the food and staff when they left. Our only small disappointment would be with the cocktails...the 2 mojito drinkers were said that they were only 'ok' and the cocktail featuring serrano chile as an ingredient wasn't to our friend's liking. Otherwise, this was a 5 star experience and we will return in the future!

My wife and I just had brunch here. The menu was imaginative, and reasonably priced for the quality. We had Morro Bay oysters, Maytag blue cheese souffle, braised porkshoulder, and steakburger. All were outstanding as was the service and decor. The Santa Ynez wine country has deserved a restaurant of this calibre for a long time.

Was anxious to try the highly touted Root 246. Our daughter was visiting so decided to give it a try for brunch. We started with Bloody Marys which took about 15 minutes to come out. We ordered openfaced Omeletts and husband ordered Eggs Benedict. I asked for eggs well done which was correct on the bottom, but the top was still VERY runny. There was no salt/pepper on any of the tables, which would not have been a problem if the waiter had come over after our meals were served (by a runner) to check to see if everything was OK. Unfortunately, by the time he arrived our meals were finished. The prices were decent, except the breakfast came with nothing, no toast, no potatoes, and the omeletts were to have camembert cheese which was barely discernable except by the rind. Fortunately we had ordered a separate bread plate which included blueberry lemon bread, cinnamon rolls, and donut holes--all were delicious. The check arrived and we were never offered coffee. The atmosphere & decor were very upscale, booths very private, and above and beyond anything found in the usually quaint Danish village. Because this restaurant is new, we may give it one more chance (perhaps brunch is not Bradley Ogden's strong point), however, if we find the service & food quality the same as this visit, never again.

only 4 months old, but they definitely know what they are doing!
the wait staff is well trained and helpful without being intrusive.
imaginatively prepared food - we had a moist and delicous salmon entree. my husband had the chicken which was served on a bed of excellent mashed potatoes.
the breads were good - as well as the ceviche appetizer. spicy, with watermelon pepper ice - unusual and refreshing.
the pluot sorbet with warm sugar cookie was a great combination and a sweetly satisfying way to end the meal.
the restaurant is not cheap - but the quality of the food and skilled preparation made it a good value. i hope it becomes a mainstay in solvang - it is by far the best food we have ever eaten in solvang. we are from orange county, ca and have eaten at many fine establishments in newport beach, laguna beach, west los angeles, etc. i would have to say that this place equals, if not beats, most of the "name" restaurants that we gone to. i will definitely return!
