“A fabulous experience that keeps us coming back again and again”

The Mirabelle in Solvang is both quaint and classy at the same time. It is a charming B&B that is also a four-star restaurant Thursday through Sunday evenings. The staff is fantastic -- from Brigitta the Innkeeper to Norbert the executive chef to Mark who mans the front desk and prepares the breakfasts (something different and tasty every morning). We are always treated like family when we stay there. The rooms are cozy and the dining experience is unparalleled. The filet mignon I had last time was so perfect it was like cutting into a piece of moist chocolate cake with your fork. If you're ever looking for a home away from home, this is it. Right in the heart of Santa Barbara county wine country. Rod and Rebecca

“What a wonderful evening in Solvang”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2010

We just had a beautiful dinner at Mirabelle in Solvang. The evening was warm and we sat outside. The wine list was excellent and our Qupe Chardonnay was outstanding. There were 6 of us and our father tried the Chef's tasting menu - he reported that the foie gras and grilled lamb chops were wonderful. Several of us had the sea bass with lemon grass rice, Thai chili sauce and crusted macademia nuts (this preparation was a special request based on the way another meal on the menus is prepared!). It was exquisite. Two others had the beef fillet and loved it. The service was just right and moved at our pace, we never felt rushed. The applet beignets and home-made cinnamon ice cream were yummy, as was the chocolate cake. Mirabelle lived up to our high expectations. We are looking forward to visiting Solvang again and dining at Mirabelle, as it was a very special dining experience.

“We must have hit a really bad night!! It was awful.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2010

We so much looked forward to comparing the #1 and #2 restaurants rated in Solvang. The Ballard Inn was fantastic--think pork belly cut with a fork, incredible heirloom tomato soup, superb lamb and excellent med rare filet-awesome!!!
At the Mirabelle we got the chef's menu---foie gras chopped up into fig preserve with a cream base underneath---yuk!!! What a waste of foie gras!! Then a New York strip which was overcooked and not easily cut with a steak knife--certainly not tasty.
Our other order was for a Hawaiian fish called ono (I think it is what I call wahoo--a very tasty fish here in Florida). The dark meat had not been removed--ie the bitter part was still there--the rest of the fish was ok. It was swimming in a sweetish white sauce which did not pair well. The tempura vegetables were very bland.
The location is beautiful, outdoors in front of the inn, the service was excellent and the wine list is good. Hopefully the food improves. The chef apparently heard our complaints and came to apologize, but I see no way this is a #1 restaurant. There is no excuse for poor quality meat, not even prepared well.

“the best dining experience in santa barbara county”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2010

This is the second time we have dined at this intimate restaurant, and we plan to come back many more times. The service is professional and friendly, and the food quality is truly exceptional and one of a kind. It is obvious that the kitchen is in the hands of a remarkably accomplished chef who truly cares about the meal that is presented. This is a restaurant not to be missed, and worth any detour or change in plans in order to taste the refined cooking of a true culinary artist.

“Small, elegant and utterly delicious in every way!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2010

This is in a small, lovely bed and breakfast off the beaten path. There are 9 tables with candlelight and soft music, very romantic. The menu makes it hard to choose, the food is delicious and unique. The only restaurant in Solvang I would recommend and I strongly recommend this one!
