“Great food... slow service”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

The food was great and the wine list spectacular, but it took forever to get through the chef's tasting menu with the amount of time we had to wait between courses. The servers where very nice and the setting was delightful, especially on a warm summer evening, but the delays just took the enjoyment out of the dining experience. Had the food prep time been a little more normal this rating would have be somewhere between 4 and 5.

We appreciate the positive comments about the food very much, thank you! We consider our restaurant a fine dining establishment and allow plenty of time(averaging 2 hours per table) for guests to dine, especially when they have several courses. Hopefully guests will let us know when they are in a hurry or have time constraints so we can accommodate.

“Really wanted to be Dazzled”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

But it wasn't to be... After reading so many glowing reviews My husband and I went expecting a fulfilling dining experience. Maybe it was the heat that enveloped the Santa Ynez valley yesterday, but the staff were not on their game. We ordered the tasting menu with the wine pairings, 4 courses, that were poorly timed the entire meal. Our waiter never smiled, was humorless and seemed distracted. To start, the amuse bouche was brought to the table before water was poured and our order taken. Then we had a painful wait of 30 minutes for the first course with no wine and no bread. We asked for a glass of wine while we were waiting and the wine steward charmingly obliged and was present for the remainder of the meal. He was extremely generous with his pours during the courses as though he was trying temper the slow service. Bread was not delivered until the third course!
The first two courses, a lobster and sea grass appetizer and scallop and mushroom risotto were quite delicious, but the duck was not what I expected. The texture was chewy and the sauce it laid in was nondescript. Not the best duck I have ever had. Dessert was a carmel ice cream which was heavenly, but topped with huckleberry foam that didn't seem to pair well with it. I felt the tasting menu was a great value. The two incredible courses were enjoyed enough to go back and try again. I'm hoping the quality of the service was not the norm.

Thanks to this guest for taking the time to comment, although we would have preferred a more positive one, we view one like this as an opportunity to improve. We plan on approximately 2 hours for each table to be able to enjoy a leisurely fine dining experience. There seems to have been some glitches with the service and I apologize for that. We present the wine list when guests are seated and offer an aperitif. The Amouse Bouche should follow after a beverage/water is served, bread is then served with the meal. In this case, it sounds the guests ordered the 4 course dinner with the wine pairing, thus the first wine arrived with the first course. If in fact it took 30 minutes for the first course, again I apologize, not sure how this could happen. If a guest is not satisfied with a meal we are always more than happy to make amends and re-cook a dish if necessary. Again my sincere apologies!

Really good service. A neat alfresco patio for dining. Both our guests and us had a lovely gastronomic experience.

“Great spot, outside is fun!”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

We were staying here and had dinner the first night after driving in to make things easy. Had a table outside, it was wonderful. Loved their rose flight, all from the area, and a great value! Food was excellent, the vegetable crepes were great and different. Portion sizes were good, not too much. Excellent wine list with reasonable pricing. They are open Thursday through Saturday I believe so plan ahead, it's not real big.

“amazing”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

We both took the set menu with the wineparing. Wat can I say. Both the food and the wines were exellent. My only point of critiscism: when you get such a perfectly prepared risotto, you'd like to have a little more of it, because you get it very rarely so good prepared, even in Italy itself!

No, it doesn't com cheap, but its worth every penny.
