We stayed at the Inn over Memorial Day weekend and would recommend it to anyone going down to Pinnacles National Monument. Like many Inns there is a casual, comfortable nature about the place that we loved. Much of this can be attributed to your hosts, Jan and John, who are there for you if you need anything but also are happy to let you have a quiet weekend on your own.
Breakfast each morning was great. Wine and snacks each evening was a welcome end to our day marked by good conversation, food and wine.
Just remember they are not kidding when they say there is nothing nearby (except Chalone winery). Salinas is the nearest big town and it is 45 minutes away. Definitely arrive before dark since the last part of your drive is on narrow and windy route 146 and then a mile or two of dirt roads. (oh, we have a Honda Civic so you don't need a 4x4 to get there- it's not that far out there!)
The gas grills for each room are also handy since there are no restaurants nearby. We loved it, however, and had a great dinner on our back patio (which each room has as well). We packed a cooler of drinks, dinner food, and snacks and had a great time.
The rooms are spacious, well appointed and very comfortable. We enjoyed the whirlpool tub after a day of hiking (big enough for 2 in our room!). They also provided plenty of bottled water and some light snacks (pretzels, cookies, etc) in case you didn't pack to that level.
After 2 nights we felt like we had been on a much longer vacation- we were happy, well fed, and well rested. WE would definitely recommend the Inn if you are heading to the area.
