Seafood in San Diego is expensive. Obviously, plenty of people can afford it because The Fish Market is always packed and it's a great choice for the area. My go-to move here though, is the white clam chowder to go. A quart is $8.25 and comes with a loaf of warm, fresh sourdough bread. It's the best New England Clam chowder in San Diego and a quart goes a long way. Add the (big) $12.50 seafood salad with avocado and for around $20.00 you can easily feed 4 people from one of San Diego's favorite places. The salad comes with one of 4 seafood choices (I like the shrimp) and an amazing basil vinaigrette dressing. With a little preparation, you can pick it up, drive 5 minutes to the beach and eat watching the sun set into the Pacific.
