Description: Located across from the Del Mar Fairgrounds and Race Track, our third restaurant has been a San Diego North County favorite since it opened in 1981. This bustling restaurant encourages friendly and convivial dining, with the help of a comfortable oyster bar and cozy cocktail bar and lounge, and front-and-center retail market, widely known by those seeking to take home the finest in fresh fish. We also offer a private room suitable for a large party gathering.

“Get it to go”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2014

Seafood in San Diego is expensive. Obviously, plenty of people can afford it because The Fish Market is always packed and it's a great choice for the area. My go-to move here though, is the white clam chowder to go. A quart is $8.25 and comes with a loaf of warm, fresh sourdough bread. It's the best New England Clam chowder in San Diego and a quart goes a long way. Add the (big) $12.50 seafood salad with avocado and for around $20.00 you can easily feed 4 people from one of San Diego's favorite places. The salad comes with one of 4 seafood choices (I like the shrimp) and an amazing basil vinaigrette dressing. With a little preparation, you can pick it up, drive 5 minutes to the beach and eat watching the sun set into the Pacific.

“High Priced Red Lobster”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2014

A friend of mine hyped this place up a lot and said it was her favorite restaurant when she used to live in the area. I was not particularly impressed. The service was ok and the atmosphere felt very similar to a chain restaurant (a la Red Lobster). The fish was good but not outstanding. I much preferred the fish tacos from the small taco stand I ate at the following night.

“Always a great meal.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2014

The Fish Market is consistently good. Their food is decent and reasonably priced.

Nothing is greasy unlike Red Lobster (or Red Butter as we like to call it). We have been coming here for years and eat here every few months.

Never had a bad meal and the waitstaff has always been pleasant.

Good, no nonsense family restaurant.

“Excellent fish restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2014

Excellent food and excellent service. A little pricey for a casual restaurant, but maybe that is what things cost these days.
