From high up and far away, Shasta Lake is rather picturesque. But it’s somewhat underwhelming up close. Most of the shoreline appears to be either steeply sloped or filled with construction rocks. We were unable to find a suitable beach to hang out and relax. There are, however, several fairly decent hiking trails nearby. (Note: we did not explore the entire lake; this review is limited to the Packers Bay region.)

Great for boating, jet skiing, swimming, relaxing. If you can afford it, get a houseboat and stay on the lake for a few days, a great way to get in tune with nature after the speedboats leave for the day! Eagles soar, Osprey fish, very cool!

Great Bass fishing, boating and all round family fun. One of the many wonderful lake that the North State has to offer. Even the locals camp out along or on the lake. Great boat launches, places to stay and eat. Our personal place is on Sunday at Bridge Bay to gaze out on the lake while enjoying our meal.
