“Very Disopointed”
Reviewed September 30, 2009

The bathroom was so dirty we could not even use the shower because of the scum on the bottom of the tub and the ring around the tub the floor was dirty I went to the front desk to complain they told me they would let the cleaning people know which never showed up as for the free drinks which are fine but to serve crackers? how cheap is that? you use to serve things to really eat with the price you pay to stay there you would think you would of had more than crackers. Also they had so many small children in the hot tub jumping in like it was a pool we could not use it.

This may not be the cheapest hotel in town but with the free drinks at Happy Hour & the free cooked breakfast it turned out to be the best value. The suites are so clean & spacious. The indoor swimming pool & fitness centre are great. Plus the restaurant serves wonderful food & is reasonably priced. The staff could not have been more helpful. (Especially Michael who helped us with our luggage.)

We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

We recently spent 4 nights at this hotel and found it to be a typical Embassy Suites with clean rooms, friendly staff, and their usual hot breakfast buffet whose layout could be better. The hotel is located just outside of Monterey so it was only a few minutes to Canery Row and the Aquarium. We had a corner suite overlooking the bay which was larger than the usual suite and on a long stay we appreciated the extra space.

We have stayed at about 8 other Embassy Suites throughout California and this is the only one I've been impressed enough to write about. We love going to Monterrey for the weekend with the kids to take them to Dennis the Menace Park and we've stayed at other properties in the area, but this one was the best. What impressed me was the efficient service they have for the breakfast buffet. At other locations it is usually chaotic. They are the only smart ones to put out the scrambled eggs, bacon, and everything else you don't need to stand in line for. You only need to stand in line if you want an omlette and such. It is a clean property and a great value. The only negative is the pool area. They need to keep it well ventilated because the chlorine is way too strong.

We stayed at this Embassy Suites for a week recently to attend a seminar being held at the hotel. Since it was convenient to stay in the same hotel, we weren't sure if it was the best choice. We were pleasantly suprised at how friendly and helpful the whole staff was; always anticipating any need you may have. The rooms and lobby areas were all very clean. The complimentary breakfast and happy hour were above standard. The only downside is that it is not walking distance to any local attractions. There is a beach a block away, but not very nice. There is a wonderful bike/walking path outside the hotel that connects to the Cannery and beyond. Bring your bikes; you won't be sorry.

We used this as a one night stop over en route from San Fran to LA and had no huge expectations. The hotel was really good: excellent size rooms, friendly staff, very good comp. buffet breakfast. Highly recommended.

We stayed at this place in early August 2009 for 3 nights based on TripAdvisor reviews. Having paid nearly $300 per night we were expecting more.

The positives - the atrium is beautiful with an indoor waterfall and three glass elevators and the staff was always helpful and courteous.

Now the negatives: the breakfast was sub-standard - eggs were awful and tasted like powder and water, bacon was like leather, coffee was tasteless. If you got there too late, much of the food was gone and not replenished (get there at 7am or better yet, go elsewhere for a real breakfast).

It was often loud at night and with young kids that's an issue. We had to request another room after the first night's stay because the neighbors were having a party. If you stay here, bring a sound machine or similar device for white noise purposes.

The rooms and the hotel in general have a tired look. Not impressed with the furnishings. More importantly, of the 3 hotels we stayed at on our trip, this one being the most expensive, the mattress at this one was the worst. It was not firm and caused me back spasms in the morning following the first night's stay. Granted, I have a testy back, but my wife whose back is good shape even commented on the poor quality of the mattress. Again, you're paying alot of money to sleep on a poor quality mattress. I was forced to sleep on the floor with cushions from the couch after the first night.

Location of the hotel was just ok. You need a car to get to Monterey as it's still a few miles south. However, I knew this going into my trip and I don't hold it against the hotel.

I've listed the negatives and as I said from the outset, the management was friendly and courteous which is always a plus. However, I would not return and I would not recommend to anyone.
