Pros: Well-designed space, instant and plentiful hot water, clean, good breakfast choices, attentive staff at breakfast and at the front desk. Easy drive to the wharf, Carmel, etc.

Cons: Road noise is very noticeable beginning at 5:30 am (and we were on the 8th floor), furnishings are tired, very limited TV channels, bad-tasting tap water--their solution was to leave highly-priced bottled water in the room; our solution was to drive to the Safeway just down the road.

We had reserved a bay-facing balcony room but downgraded to a regular suite after seeing it...2 busy roads and a noisy freeway are between you and the bay and the balcony was dank and cold and full of mosquitos.

Great place to stay with kids. We all fit in the room since there were dual queens and a fold out. Breakfast is included, the location is great, and we had a blast in the pool. The styling is getting a little tired so hopefully there is a "refresh" in the near future for this place, but it's superior to other places nearby.

We stayed at this Embassy Suites with our 2 teenage grandsons on a 10 day drive up the CA Coast from LA to SF. Of the 7 hotels we stayed in, this was the boys' favorite. They loved the Warm indoor pool, the evening reception, the on-site restaurant, the suites, and found the exercise facility to be adequate.

Beds were great and both of our suites very clean...(as opposed to other reviewers...) I agree that these suites are small but this is a very busy area and other rooms are small too. This facility gave us EXCELLENT service.

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions. For about 10 years I went to Monterey, CA, every August for a medical conference hosted by UC Davis. This conference after a few years was held in the conference facilities at this particular hotel, and that is how I originally found it. The conference facilities are very nice with good food at breaks.

This hotel has a lovely lobby and a very nice breakfast buffet every AM. Unfortunately, the rooms aren't nearly as nice. The first time my husband and I checked into this hotel, we were given a room that smelled terrible. It seemed to be a combination of the beach and cigarettes. We do not smoke. I was so unhappy with the room that we asked to move. The second room was only a little better. I was quite disappointed. For more than $300/night, I expect much better.

The hotel is in an OK location if you wish to stay in Seaside and not Monterey. The location is good. It is close to several major roads and the airport. There are several very nice restaurants within a mile. The food in the hotel restaurant is quite good. In fact they have one of the best shrimp salads with many, many tiny, tasty, baby shrimp that I have ever eaten.

For my subsequent stays in this area, I have chosen to stay in less expensive hotels such as the Holiday Inn Express one block away which is not as fancy but has much cleaner rooms and decent facilities. I still go to my conference and eat frequently at the Embassy Suites.

The hotel is not directly on beach but about a 10 minute under freeway but past a large Starbuck's walk. Web photos can make it appear closer. Hotel itself is a newer tower style Embassy Suites and exactly what you would expect -- nice all suite property with good cooked to order breakfast included in the rate. Worth complimenting the omlette cooks whose patience, efficiency and good humor were commendable given the number of folks they are expected to quickly serve. Hotel is across Monterey Bay and easily visible from the acquarium, but not walking distance from those attractions. We got what we needed from our one night stay -- good clean room, onsite breakfast, proximity to beach and Monterey attractions. Worth recommending as long as rate is $200 or less.

The Embassy Suites was great for the kids. We had a large corner suite. The only problem was that we booked with a rollaway, and they ran out. They gave us an air mattress instead, and my son had trouble sleeping on it. I mentioned it at check out, and they gave me $20 off the room rate.

The hotel looks newly renovated; when you walk in, they have an impressive lobby with glass elevators. We arrived at cocktail hour time--complimentary. It included drinks and snacks. The kids loved it. Their complimentary hot breakfast was nice. They had a nice indoor pool and game room.

Overall, it was a nice hotel. Seaside is not on the shore, but we had a nice view from our room. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed in this hotel June 29-July 1st 2007 in a room facing the ocean. It was a toss up for us. My reviews are all about telling you what to expect. If your stay is better I am glad. We gave ours a neutral three. THE AREA: For the area, we found it to be about the only place with a suite that has a door closed to make 2 separate rooms. But it was heavily used and not totally clean. But it was as others have said "functional." It is located in seaside and is not on the ocean it has an ocean view from some rooms albeit far away. It is near a Starbuck's that is busy and open 24 hours. McDonald's too. It is nestled in an area where the morning fog burned off quickly but it was not a romantic or dramatic setting. But yes, functional. THE PRICES: Outrageous but for the area quite normal. $250+ a night. It included breakfast but it was always too crowded and our party never got to eat together. It was more "you wait for the omelettes, I'll get cereal for the kids" The evening reception was a quick beer and bean dip with tortilla chips. Free but nothing special and huge lines. THE ROOMS: The rooms were a bit dated. There were stains on the carpet, the shower not cleaned as thoroughly as we would have liked, and the scarcity of towels crazy. We had 2 towel set ups for a room we booked with 2 adults and 2 kids. It was a big deal asking for more towels. Outside your door is the atrium looking down on breakfast, the happy hour or the daily business. The noise rose to your room. In our case a wedding was there so there were people everywhere all the time. THE PARKING: Although free it was shared with Chili's and the nightclub they had going in the hotel as well as the wedding so parking was so tight we were all the way back by Chili's most nights. It emptied a lot by morning. CLOSENESS: Very close to Cannery Row, Monterey Bay Aquarium, restaurants, and shopping. You had to drive everywhere but Chili's, Starbuck's and McDonald's. There is a Holiday Inn next door too. OVERALL: For Families going to the area it is good but expensive. It definitely needs updating. The free breakfast saves your budget but make sure to stake out a table before getting your food. You won't feel bad if the kids make noise as everyone is making noise. If you need family friendly this is it but spend more time out at the sites.
