the positives: the room was very large and very cheap compared to other area motels- the price even beat motel 6. the room was large, comfortable and had a table, 2 chairs, microwave, fridge, clean carpet and comfortable bed. many stores and restaurants nearby, good access to highway 1 and monterey. the bathroom was also good size with reliable hot water/shower.
the negatives: the furniture was a little rundown. only 2 hangars in the armoire. no roll and coffee until 8:30 p.m.- i think that was done intentionally because most customers left before then. the men at the front desk were minimally responsive. but what was really terrible was the paper-thin walls. i always stay in cheap motels and expect thin walls, but this place was ridiculous. you could hear conversations and tv dialogue very clearly. even when i asked people to lower the volume, you could still hear everything as if there were no walls. so the sleep quality of the room was terrible and i would not stay here again despite the low rate and decent room.

My husband and I decided to stay here for our one year anniversary! HUGE MISTAKE! When we checked in the front office smelled so horrible I wanted to vomit. So as you can imagine we did not partake in the complimentary breakfast. The front lady was rude and it did seem like there were a ton of people living there. Our room smelled so bad of cigarettes we had to go out and buy fabreeze to be able to sleep. The toilet seat was so wobbly I felt like I was going to get bucked off at any minute. Also they advertise HBO but the HBO channel was all static. The bathroom sink does not meet code by having a p-trap and that allows all sewer gas to come into your room. No coffee maker, no iron, HORRIBLE! Not the place to stay even if you are trying to pinch your pennys!

Don't mind the review for this place. I did read the reviews and was a little shaken up after reading some negative reviews. However there were no rooms in town available and stopped by for the night. The desk clerk Mike was very helpful and friendly and took really good care of us. The rooms were cleaned very nice no complaints and property is very well maintained. Would do it again.

Went there to visit a friend in Late may. The people there spoke Indian and did not seem to understand my questions,

The TV never worked and family members seemed to live at the hotel ie. did there wash in a laundry under the room. You could hear everything outside ( it is on a busy street)

I will not stay there again

Gum from another guest stuck on the bedside light, dirty walls, mold on shower curtain, non-functioning TV remote, flat pillows, rude day clerk, old, worn carpet, no in-room coffee maker, no Iron.
Went here on a whim, deciding to stay over night in Monterey after a day at Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf. At first the room seemed reasonably priced at just under $70.00, but in light of its condition, especially the inattention to cleanliness and the rude behavior of the staff, this was no bargain.
While prepping to leave our room at 11:00am (check out time) we received repeated calls (two within 10 minutes), "you have to leave" I told him we needed a just a few minutes to finish up. His response, "you have to leave now," by 11:15am we were out and would never go back.
If you want a place to crash and aren't too concerned about cleanliness, or service - then visit this place. Just one word of advice, grind them down for a cheaper rate, because the price they ask is way too much!

I was concerned of what I got myself into because of those comments that portrayed this inn as "dishonest" or "worst". They were read as if this place was an hotel scam or something horrible... But, I found staying experience here pleasant, and very much similar to what the few positive comments have described.

The best thing about this inn was its affordable-ness. We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights each in mid March for under $150 (total cost). That's an incredible value. Both rooms were spacious, clean; there was no odors; everything worked in the room; high speed wireless was highspeed and stable; street wasn't noisy at night; location is ok and there's lots of middle-class restaurants and drive-throughs around; best thing was that the shower was HOT and STRONG! I have stayed at some so-called 3 stars and the room we had here handsomely beat them. My wife and I brought own room freshener but we didn't have to use it.

In the end, you get what you pay for. Don't look here if luxurious amenities is your thing, however, this place absolutely satisfied what I asked her for--an affordable and comfortable place to stay so we could explore Monterey.

If I could give zero stars here, I would. This place was disgusting. Seriously. I found this place on Expedia and will post my review there, too, because the reviews I found when I first booked this place made it sound pretty decent. We made reservations two months ahead of time, and, upon arrival, the guy at the front desk complained that Expedia had not sent them the booking confirmation, but, luckily, they had a room available for us. That should have been the first clue, as every other hotel in the area was booked solid for that weekend. We had paid for a room with two queens, but they didn't bother telling us that they didn't have that available, and gave us one with two doubles (there were 3 of us). We discovered this when we finally got checked in and took our bags to our room. They still charged us $250 a night and of course didn't offer a discount for not having the larger room available. Clue number two. We spend the day and evening driving around and eating out. When we finally decided to go back to the hotel and crash, we started to notice the details. The phone was broken. The wiFi was ridiculously unreliable - it literally dropped about every minute, the remote for the tv was gross and all the prompts were in Spanish only, the room was very small, and the bathroom sink was actually outside the bathroom. To make the space even more crowded, there was a kitchen table and chairs shoved up against the wall beside one of the beds. The dresser and night stand were super cheap and broken, the toiletries were ultra cheap, and the towels were worn and frayed. And there were only two of them for three people. The guy at the front desk did give us another when i went down and asked about it, but we were lucky to have noticed before everyone tried to shower. All through the night, there were people banging very loudly outside our door, causing everyone in the room to remain awake at all hours (when we had an engagement that required us all to be up at 7am), and someone thought that the space under our window was a convenient place to smoke, so, since the room was too stuffy to sleep with the windows closed, we had to put up with their smoking several times during the night.. 7am - the alarm clock goes off and we all line up to shower. The bathroom, besides being tiny, is seriously disgusting. Really old, soap scummy fixtures, cigarette burns on the tub and toilet, a thick layer of dust on every ledge, including those in the shower, no fan in the shower, pubic hairs on the vinly floor, grime in the shower, and, closing the shower curtain topped it all off. Extremely large quantities of large black mold all over the inside of the shower curtain. ick. I stayed in some pretty cheap places when I was a student driving across the country, but nothing has disgusted me as much as this. Oh - and the water was barely luke warm. What a nice wake-up. Needless to say, we all showered very quickly and none of us felt clean afterward. We decided that there was no way we could stay there again and had to cut our trip short. We went down to the hotel office to lodge our complaints and let them know we were checking out, and the dude at the counted refused to refund any of our money (he had made us pay for both days when we first checked in). He kept going on and on about how the owner wouldn't let him give refunds - when it was clear that he and his wife owned the place and lived in the rooms connected to the office. Oh - and he had the nerve to state that we were the only ones to complain - like that should make a difference. Needless to say, stay away from this place. You'll be severely disappointed.
