We chose Angelino's on the recommendation of our hotel -- it was an excellent choice. The food was much like one would have in Italy -- including, in our case, Italian wait staff and wines. Each of our courses (salad, pasta - ravioli, and veal with artichokes for an entree) was well prepared and tasty (fresh ingredients and care in preparation were apparent). The waiter picked up on our desire for a dine (rather than fast service being good service), yielding a wonderful experience. Despite being in California, we chose one of the Italian wines and were glad we did. The wine list had selections not commonly found and were obviously chosen with care. All in all, this is a wonderful place for a dine -- in my experience, better than all of the Italian restaurants I have visited in San Francisco.
I should mention we made a reservation in the afternoon (with Angelino, after the lunch trade) and when we arrived were given a choice of two tables, both by the window -- we chose the one at the front of the restaurant (which is relatively small/intimate), which had a view of the bay and of San Francisco -- both romantic and with a feeling of lots of space.
