“Choose dishes carefully for best value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2014 via mobile

we stayed at a nearby hotel and wandered down to Scoma's without a reservation on a Thurs evening. We were seated right away at a window seat with a beautiful early dusk view of the hills and the sailboats. Our service was friendly and prompt. We started with the chilled seafood platter. The prawns were large and fresh and the oysters were fresh and tender. The crab legs (which were just a few chunks of meat already removed from the legs???) and the clams were not as good. I would suggest just getting the prawn cocktail instead of the full platter. We shared a mixed leaves salad which was big enough to share. My wife had the crab cappellini, which she loved, and I had the salmon balsamico. The salmon was fresh and had a fantastic crunch from the pistachio crust. The balsamic dressing was thick but not particularly tasty and didn't do much for the dish. We had 2 glasses of the premium chardonnay (Ferrari-Corano) and no dessert. Total was $124 without tip. We haven't tried the other similar restaurants on tourist row (Barrel Room, Spinnaker, Trident) but I would say Scoma's was a good choice for bayside dining and can be a good value if you choose your dishes carefully.

“Wonderful bayside experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2014

Just a ferry ride across from Fisherman's Wharf is an elegant restaurant in a houseboat right on the water. The relaxing views of Sausalito hillside homes and the bay at sunset are amazing. The experience is enhanced even more by the great cocktails and fabulous seafood. Don't miss this opportunity.

“Yes, this is where the tourist go...but there is a reason”

When my wife and I went to San Francisco, the most recommended restaurant by far was Scoma's....it's no big secret, but that doesn't make it any less good...very good meal, and the view is great...

“Want to go back soon!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2014

Scoma's (in Sausalito) was recommended to us by the staff of a local winery - and they were right on the money. Three of us got 3 different dishes and all were wonderful. Our waitress was better than great - she was attentive without being in the way, gave us good advice, and seemed to really appreciate the fact that we were at her table, and I'm so sorry I don't remember her name. Salmon was the best I've ever had - very fresh, cooked perfectly. Great view, great atmosphere. If I ever get back to this area this will be the very first place we go.
