The restaurant is beautiful with views of the bay. Lots of mirrors and windows.
The menu was small but intriguing. We had been sailing and were thirsty and hungry. We waited to order for at least 20 minutes with wait staff running around but not interacting. Finally we left. I told the waitress we were leaving and she stared blankly. My friend told the manager we were leaving because we couldn't get any service and he just shrugged.
To be fair, the woman who served us water and crackers was very nice. Too bad she wasn't the waiter!

Picture this:
A waterfront restaurant location with breathtaking 270º views of the San Francisco Bay- not just on the outdoor terrace, taking in the sights of Alcatraz, ferries and sailboats, but also at night, inside, and from almost any seat in the thoroughly modern interior!

It does not take an expert to realize that millions were spent to make this new restaurant happen on that scale. And it should be self-evident that some portion of the money raised should have been spent on food execution.

Regrettably, it wasn't. I have rarely experienced such glaring disconnect between a restaurant's first impression of a thoroughly contemporary, richly appointed space, and its core job- serving food that is at least on par with the surroundings in which it is served.

This was a birthday dinner of four. We ordered appetizers (flatbread charcuterie plate, six oysters) which were undistinguished all around. Main courses were the big let down:
two orders of risotto (with goat cheese, cherry tomatoes, summer squash, ginger foam and arugula) were an incohesive mush of ingredients with a strong vinegar aftertaste, rather than the ingenious blend of smartly chosen components. The wood-fired chicken was undercooked Safeway quality. Deserts were another disappointment: Two types of bread pudding we ordered (chocolate and butterscotch) looked promising, but were cloying, overly rich on the palate, and lacked originality or sophistication.

A word on the service: we had a couple of enthusiastic servers who appeared at the right time and left us alone when we did not need them. That alone would have merited another star, were it not for the fact that orders were duplicated or mixed up a couple of times during the course of the evening.

In conclusion: Why is the concept of good food in a breathtaking location so rarely realized? Why must it always be gimmicky ingredients (see the chicken dish above) inexpertly put together in these multi-million dollar tourist joints (the place sits right in the middle of the town's popular board walk)? Why not just do away with some of the fabulous appointments of a $300k bar section and hire a great $100k chef instead?

We stopped by on a Saturday night to have a dinner and enjoy the lovely view of the SanFrancisco bay. There was a mix up when we were being seated (it was very full of other guests) but the owner made it right and found us a place! The house salsa and homemade rosemary crisps were outstanding! We both had the trout which was wood oven roasted over a delicious melange (mix) of vegetables. It was awesome! We got to sit at the bar area overlooking the desert chef creating beautiful deserts. We probably would not have had desert if we had not watched him so meticulously putting together everything, as the meal left us full, but we were glad we did.
Would recommend reservations during busy times. The restaurant has lots of tables, so it was a bit noisy at times.

Went there for lunch on Saturday and were very unimpressed. The menu is limited, pricey and the portions small. The chef was obviously trying to be cute but the meals were garbage. I would recommend eating anywhere else unless your usual dining fair comes from a dumpster, then you might be slightly impressed.

Stopped in to enjoy the view of the Bay. We sat on the back porch with a glass of wine and a complimentary snack. Service was wonderful. I would definitely go back and try it for dinner.
