We enjoyed the view of the city with drinks and dessert on a Friday night but margarita had too much tequila and very little margarita mix. The table next to us returned a mixed drink back to bar. The beer on tap was very good. The desserts were good. The banana bites and lava cakes were very good. The service was good. The views from the outdoor deck wa The seafood was good on our previous visit.

We had lunch here on a Friday afternoon. We chose to sit inside, because the views of the bay are great no matter where you sit. Trident has been around since the 70's...yes I was one of the original customers. Now I live far away sominwanted to see if the food matched the view. It certainly did! I enjoyed a 2lb lobster while my wife had the salmon. We each had a glass of wine and the bill was about $160. I can't give this restaurant an excellent rating, because I felt that the staff were not as attentive compared to truly excellent restaurants. The seafood is fresh and the view is fantastic, so patience is worth it. BTW, the parking will cost you $10 for the time the meal takes. Another plus: charming stores across the street.

I was ready for lunch after cycling the Golden Gate, and toured the chic main drag in Sausalito before choosing this place. given the beautiful day we were experiencing, we felt lucky to get seats outside. The very pleasant waitress apologised because we couldnt have a table (always a good sign when you haven't booked) but gave us seats at the wooden bar outside adjacent to the tables which presented us with the best bay and SFO skyline view a toursist in Sausalito could ask for! Totally mesmerising. The seafood dishes we ordered were delicious, filling and arrived promptly and the local wine to wash it all down was perfect. The bill was pleasantly on the light side so I am somewhat surprised to see this well-run friendly and spotless placing serving fresh local produce so far down the ratings! Bottom line-if fortuante enough ever to be back in Sausalito I will be stopping by again without question. Heartily recommended for lunch and cant see why dinner would be any different

and the Trident is back. Janis Joplin's table is on the upper balcony, and all tables inside and ourtside on the deck have a beautiful view of San Francisco from this former artists colony of Sausalito. The ceiling is still painted in 60s style ... but the food and service are really good, and it's well worth the visit . Had a lunch of steamed clams, Louie salad with Dungeness crab, and lobster ravioli that was excellent. Lunch for three with only one glass of wine came to $100.

Our waiter Orlando was delightful, and friendly -- which made up for SF cab drivers we had !

Ah, the memories of past and present ! Thanks for being there.

The Trident Restaurant used to be called Horizons until recently it was renamed The Trident, again. Built over San Francisco Bay it has in my opinion the best views in all of Sausalito. Hippie art is still painted all over the ceiling. Apparently Janis Joplin & Jerry Garcia frequented the restaurant often Just found out that Buena Vista cafe in San Francisco has the same owner, so you can get a famous Irish coffee at The Trident as well.
