“An Enjoyable Visit”
Reviewed February 24, 2012

I'm an engineer so I'm a little biased but I really enjoyed the work they put into this facility to make it into an interpretive centre. I think it is an invaluable educational facility and while worth the visit. It's FREE, so what have you got to lose? There is lots to look at; this place is huge!

“Interesting but boring”
Reviewed January 21, 2012

We stopped here at the recommendation of an aquaintence but this is a short visit and would be good if you need to fill less than an hour's time. There is great information about the Bay area watershed but unless your kids are prepared to read (of listen to) lots of printed info on the signs and watch the short informational video, you can get the gist by moving quickly through the facility. We were glad it was free!

Liked everything; great portrayal of silt and mercury changes in the Bay due to mining in the Sierras

“Will look better with water”
Reviewed November 3, 2011

I stopped by the Bay Model, which in concept is a fascinating project, a model designed for the Army Corps of Engineers (NOT for tourists) to predict the ebb and flow of water in the Bay Area. It was transformed to a tourist attraction some time ago, and has a beautiful building. However, the day I was there the Bay Model was apparently undergoing renovations. Disappointingly, no water to watch. There are some interesting educational exhibits, but when the star attraction isn't working, it's not worth making a special trip, even though the entrance is free. My advice: call ahead to find out if it's functioning.

And when you do come, bring a picnic for some great outdoor dining on the tables out front, with great views!

“What good is a Bay Model, if it's dry?”
Reviewed September 4, 2011

They're doing renovations. Nothing to see and no bathrooms.
