“memory was better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2012

We had dinner and breakfast at Murray Circle, staying overnight at the hotel. Nice location, historic room very nice.

From what I remember of dinner about a year ago, it was better then. My boulibase (spelling??) was well prepared but the mussels in it were definitely "day old". I came close to sending it back. Service was excellent. Nice table spacing. Prices OK and good selection, good advice. However I noted a dramatic increase in wine prices compared to their internet posting. ('71 Yquem was $1050 compared to $750 posted, Ouch. I would much rather pay the corkage on that one.)

At breakfast, the omelette was cooked eggs folded over the ingredients. That must be OK but it's not to my preference. Eggs Benedict so-so. We asked for jam or jelly for the excellent toast, got "apple sauce". They did not have fruit jam and furthermore the butter was not great, just supermarket generic. This is definitely sub par for such a high end restaurant.

“A Perfect Marin/SF Brunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2012

Murray Circle is an amazing, serene setting. We looked out over the spacious glade to the bay as a large cargo vessel eased westward, disappearing through the fog that had settled just inside the Golden Gate. The service was very, very attentive, solicitous, friendly, and we were left unhurried but never ignored. The special eggs Benedict with Bernaise sauce was excellent, a nice variation on the familiar course. The salad with pickled strawberries was fresh and succulent. The encrusted halibut (a variation on fish and chips) was also delicious, good. The fries were quite generous (both those with the halibut and the truffle encrusted) perhaps too generous, but good nonetheless. A great afternoon stop after a busy weekend and full week ahead. The only downside was that somehow our reservation was lost, but the unflappable hostess had us seated immediately and with a gracious apology.

“Special”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

Excellent food attentively and beautifully served in a great old historic building. A bit pricey, but the whole package makes it worth the cost. Think of where you are, Fort Baker at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge and think of the fine dining alternatives and their cost across that bridge in SF. This one becomes a pretty good deal. We will definitely return.

“Not worth the money”

The service and food were a big let down. Our food came out raw and we had to ask the server several times for the wine we ordered
