Owner description: The largest of six centers that rescue and rehabilitate seals and sea lions found along the California coast.

If you like sea lions and seals, this is a great place to visit. The remodeled center is basically a hospital for wounded coastal wildlife, nursing a variety of mammals back to health. My kids loved it. The staff is very friendly and working hard for a good cause. You can learn lots about the animals and see them up close.
The center seems to be busiest in the spring. You can check on their website how many animals are in residence before you go. We like to see if they have baby seals. There is no fee to see the animals and no fee to park and a great beach across the street (Rodeo beach) You can reach the center from the freeway by going through a tunnel, then following the signs.
When we last visited, the staff was performing an autopsy on a recently deceased animal in one of the rooms. The procedure was quite bloody (but very interesting to my husband and sons) They posted a big sign, warning visitors of the graphic nature of this, to keep people out that might be bothered by visiting this room. We really appreciated this warning, since it would have disturbed my little girls.

A very interesting place to visit. See how they care for sick sealions, seals etc. Also, nice views from here.

Wonderful rehabilitation center by the sea. Come and look at the seals that are being healed so they can be released back into the sea. This is a fun and educational way to spend the afternoon after which you have the nearby beach to hang out on.

My husband and I visited here on December 30, 2012. We have been here before and decided to visit again as I love Sea Animals and wanted to visit a place where sick and injured Sea Animals are taken care of. I never get tired of looking at Seals, Sea Otters, etc. The beautiful creatures of the world. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the facility and the patients that were or had been there for care We will visit again.

this is great to see with your own eyes. There is care and concern for our sea life. They help to rescue and return sea life back to the wild.
