Can be done in one very long day or split up into an overnight or two short days [permits required form the St. Park]. Scouts use it as an introductory backpack trip for novices. The easiest way is to start on the coastal ridge, end up at the beach, while passing a waterfall and creek in the lower half. Even just day hiking, carry a lot of water May/June onward [2+ L/person/day], as some sections are hot and dry, and creeks may not be running. Have a pumped water filter for your group to refill from the few creeks. Don't skip refilling at one assuming the next will be running. I think only the main park facilities mid-way and at the beach have potable piped water.
