We booked a two night stay at the end of July and couldn’t have been happier with our choice. Their motto of “arrive as guests, leave as friends” couldn’t be more appropriate. The new owners are fantastic people - very personable and kind. They each put you at ease immediately and make you feel very welcome. One evening they played music in the wine garden with hors d'oeuvres (another day hors d'oeuvres were set up in the main house). It was very fun to sit with them and the other guests as Jim and Dave played their guitars (you’re welcome to play or sing along too, so bring your instruments if you’d like).

One thing that really sets this inn apart from any other in the area is their Friendship Pass. Almost all the wineries/tasting rooms on the pass will give you two free tastings. It was a HUGE savings. The area has really done away with offering free or even 2 for 1 tastings so to have this pass saved us a lot of money. When they say it’s a $150 savings, it’s true. Check out their website for a list of the wineries included. If you’re debating between this inn and somewhere else, the Friendship Pass alone should make your decision clear.

And the food was excellent! Debbie’s breakfasts were fantastic. Each meal started with rosemary popovers, some muffins or bread and coffee/tea/juice. Next came the homemade granola with fruit and yogurt and finally the main course. Needless to say, you won’t be hungry for hours after all of this delicious food! And the hors d'oeuvres were various wines served with crackers, cheese, veggies, etc.

We stayed in the vaquero cottage. There are two cottages in the back of the property. They’re separate from the main house and very private. The room and bathroom were immaculately cleaned and very comfortable. The king size bed was perfect and even in the summer we had such a nice breeze through the various windows that we didn’t need the AC. There were two leather chairs in a seating area near the door and an electric fireplace. I’m sure all the other rooms are just as lovely as the Vaquero. We saw the water tower cottage and it was very nice as well.

There’s nothing more to say except make your reservation…you won’t be disappointed!

Room Tip: The vaquero and water tower cottages are in the back of the property. They're not attached to the main house, have their own private entrances and are furthest away from the street.

What a wonderfully thoughtful review! We're honored that you've taken the time to detail your stay. We agree with you, the Vaquero is a great private getaway, yet close enough to the Wine Garden that you can join the fun every day. We're also glad that you enjoyed the Friendship Pass. There will always be one waiting for you on your next visit. ;^p

Come back soon!

Six of our family spent last weekend wine tasting and just enjoying a short break away in Santa Ynez and Los Olivos. I read the reviews of this B&B and decided to give it a try. Since this was a family trip, two of my married kiddos and my husband and I, there were a variety of tastes to appeal to. Lets just say everyone LOVED their stay and want to come back! The Innkeepers are new, and very warm and engaging to chat with. They are helpful with recommendations on where to eat and go see. Dave & Katie and Jim & Debbie want you to enjoy your stay! And you will enjoy Smitty, the gentle labradoodle on site. We loved him.

Also, let me say, the pictures really don't do it justice, this Inn is darling, very well appointed and clean! Although it appears older due to decorating theme, it was built in 2005. The rooms are period themed, which is so much fun, but with modern touches. We stayed in the "Big Valley", with a king rough-hewn log bed frame, and a cow skin rug on the floor. It had a jacuzzi tub/shower that I loved. The bathrooms are very well appointed too. The room was a nice size, and the flat screen TV is hidden in the armoire, perfect so we could catch up on the Olympics! A darling pot bellied like fireplace and leather couch to enjoy it with - but since this was summer, there was sadly no need. We will have to come back during the cooler months to take advantage of that one. One of our young couples stayed in the Californian and especially loved the claw foot tub and the comfy bed. The other couple enjoyed the Vaquero cottage just out back. Let's just say, we all wished we stayed longer!

Also, if you are curious how it is to stay in a B&B with noise level, we found it very quiet. We were there on a sold out weekend and everyone is respectful in that way. At night, it was a bit warm (hot day) and we opened our balcony doors for a bit of air circulation and could hear a few cars driving through on Edison street. But otherwise, that was it. I think we should just have turned on our air conditioner in the room. Now, we did wake up to the smell of fresh baked goods and bacon wafting up to our room, but hey, that ain't bad! We made sure not to miss breakfast!

There were nice touches: afternoon wine and simple hors d'oeuvres, cookies in the evening in the front room. Our Breakfast was yummy with fresh squeezed orange juice and and egg green chili casserole, bacon, fresh fruit, homemade granola and yogurt. Small mini muffins of which we loved the rosemary popovers - YUM! (Thanks Debbie!) Coffee, Tea.

Our family does like to play board games and they have some available in the front room to enjoy. We mustered up some energy and played a few rounds, but hey, this was after a full day of wine tasting, so we did not last with any gusto with the games.

All is to say, Dave, Katie, Jim, Debbie and Smitty go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. With B&B's you have a nice opportunity to meet other people in their travels, as we did with an Australian couple traveling in the states for a month.

We had a delightful experience at the Edison Street Inn and plan to make a return trip in another season! So glad we took the risk to not do the normal thing of a hotel. :)

Linda – Thank you so much for your wonderful review. One of the things we loved best about your stay is that all six of you played board games in the parlor. That'd exactly how we love to spend time with friends and family. Just games, smiles and laughs all night long (a little wine helps, too). The other things we loved about your stay are the delicious filets you left for us. YUM! How very, very generous of you. You've raised the bar. What will we serve next time you come? Hmmmm. . .

Say hi to all the family for us!

My husband and I needed a break from our six children and took off to our favorite area of California, Santa Ynez wine country. Friends had recommended The Edison Street Inn. It was beautiful! During happy hour, the owners(Jim and Dave), sang and played guitar, well into the evening. I didn't want it to end. Deb(I feel like we made some new friends so we are on a first name basis), made an amazing breakfast with homemade granola and quiche. We sat on the porch the next morning and didn't want to leave. So relaxing! Just what we needed.

Marcie,

Thanks so much for your wonderful review. We're sorry we're so late to respond. We, too, don't want our guests' trips to end. It's always so enjoyable to meet so many wonderful folks — sitting around the inn, chatting, singing, sipping wine and making friends. And we must admit, the front porch is a special place for us, too. Nothing like relaxing on a porch and watching the world go by.... Sounds like a good idea for right now! Please come back and visit soon.

My wife and I stayed there this past weekend and can't say enough good things about this place and its new owners Debbie, Jim, Dave and Katie (they purchased Edison Street Inn about two months ago). They really treat their guests like friends and it shows......how about hanging out with the owners in the wine garden at the back of the property at dusk, enjoying delicious local wine and listening to Jim play a wide variety of songs on his guitar? Or Deb's absolutely delicious breakfast-fresh homemade breads and eggs, with local fresh organic fruit and coffee. Incredibly tasty. They were also extremely helpful with local restaurant suggestions and tasting rooms to try and accomdated our every request.

Our room was great-we stayed in the "Big Valley". It's big and spacious and has a private reading balcony, a stove, and a great jacuzzi bath tub.

We loved this place and plan to stay there again. It was our first visit to the Santa Ynez Valley and we could not have been more pleased.

Room Tip: It looks like all the rooms are pretty spacious-some have jacuzzi bath tubs, others may not.

Hi Seth — Thanks so much for taking the time to review your stay. You must be commended for grabbing a guitar and playing along during happy hour. Watching your eyes as you copied my fingering on the fretboard of my guitar was pretty fun. . . not to mention impressive, as you nailed every chord. We also learned a great new phrase from you: Instead of Happy Hour, we really hold Happy Evenings. And we've been doing it ever since!

We're looking forward to the next time you and Nancy can visit. See you soon!

My husband and I decided to take a last minute wine tasting trip for our anniversary. We had heard about the Edison Street Inn from a friend of ours, so we thought we would check it out. The innkeepers where super friendly, down home, easy-to-talk-to people. They knew it was our anniversary and offered to help book dinner reservations for us as we were in route. The property was beautifully designed and decorated. It was a quaint yet updated feeling B&B. We stayed in the water tower room. It was very pleasant, with a comfortable bed and great decor. We especially enjoyed sitting on the patio attached to the room. From the Edison Street Inn we were able to walk to dinner and breakfast which was very relaxing. We would definitely stay again.
