We often visit the Santa Ynez Valley and the surrounding wine district - our own Southern Californian "Napa Valley" - but much less developed and in some ways, much more natural beauty.

We have stayed at many of the fine hotels and inns in the Solvang, Los Olivos, and Ballard area but have never stayed in Santa Ynez. The town or rather large village is just a couple of miles from Solvang, and equidistant from Los Olivos and the Zacca Mesa wine trail.

We managed to get a great deal for a Sunday night stay at the Santa Ynez Inn so we took the plunge! Are we glad we did. From the first moment you drive in you feel at home. An extremely warm welcome by the receptionist and the same person takes you to your room. Large, very clean and all amenities in a room out of the 19th century. Breakfast was included and was quite delicious and we shared a large group table in the parlor - met some really interesting folk.

We cannot wait to return.

Room tip: I get the feeling that any room would be good, but the ones on the second floor are probably a tad better.

An absolutely effortless check-in. The kind staff allowedm e to check in early, although my husband had not arrived with cc. On such a hot day, I appreciated that! Stunningddecorw ith no fussiness. Very small, but cute outside spa. Great restaurant adjacent, with personal service. Fireplace was lovely, huge bathroom(had one of the regular rooms). Great walk in closets and robes, wet bar, and mini fridge hidden away nicely. Clean as a whistle, and quiet. Yummy wine tasting, and desserts nightly. Stupendous breakfast and all the extras one can wish for . All in all, a FABULOUS place to elegantly rusticate.

Room tip: Rooms numbered 100-107 very quiet, window that open to stunning valley views. Turn down in room sounds to hear millions of crickets!

We just stayed at this Inn for one night on our drive down the coast - we wish we would have stayed longer and enjoyed the area.

We arrived around 7pm. Check in was quick and easy - self park in the back parking lot. They offered to help with luggage, but we were just bringing in a carry on, so it was no problem.

The room was HUGE!! My 9 month old loved it - first time I let him crawl on a floor in a week. So many places for him to explore. Bathroom was also huge. The TV was a little dated, but fits the style of the hotel. They have a DVD player with a small selection of movies at the front desk. Pretty dated. If you know you will have some downtime, might want to bring a movie from home.

They don't have dinner at the hotel - but the Vineyard House Restaurant was just across the parking lot. It was a great restaurant- yummy food, great outdoor seating, local jazz band.

Breakfast at the Inn is included - they had 2 entrees to chose from - for us it was between poached eggs on toast with pesto or ricotta pancakes with berries. They have a small pastry bar. Juice, coffee, tea, water are left out for self service. Low key breakfast, but great for in and out. Limited menu - i asked for a side of potatoes to offset the sweet pancakes, but they could only offer me toast. Which was fine. No additional cost.

The crib we requested was a pack -n-play. They use a blanket to cover the mattress pad. I used my own crib sheets since I figured most hotels don't have fitted crib sheets.

Overall, wonderful time. Lovely hotel.

This hotel was wonderful! Our room was huge with beautiful furnishings, fireplace, Jacuzzi tub and walk in shower. The bathroom was just as big as the room itself. From the moment we arrived, my husband and I felt completely comfortable and relaxed. They had a great complimentary wine and cheese afternoon, coffee, tea and desserts in the evening and a wonderful breakfast spread in the morning. The beds were extremely comfortable too. The staff was friendly and helpful and the location was stunning. I can't wait to return!

Stunning rooms and location in the midst of cozy restaurants. Wine hour and dessert hour were excellent complimentary treats! This is an excellent choice for anyone visiting the beautiful Santa Barbara wine country! Close to picturesque Solvang (the Danish City!)
