This is a beautiful winery, reminiscent of northern Italy or Southern France. Stone walls are draped with vines, and the interior is dark and cool and very old world.

We shared a tasting, as it was still the middle of the day, and we had other places to go. We also wandered around and tasted the incredible flavored olive oils (incredibly priced, too!), and explored the huge vault below with massive barrels.

Really lovely and relaxing.

Sunstone winery is on the banks of the Santa Ynez river. The tasting room and the grounds are beautiful. I found the staff to be so engaging and knowledgeable. They also have flavored olive oils for tasting yummy. They have some snacks for purchase that you can enjoy in the garden. Go and relax..

If you want an authentic wine tasting experience like you might find in northern Italy then the Sunstone is the place for you. The winery is hidden behind rows of grape vines as you drive down the dirt road about an 1/8" mile to the winery. The tasting room buildings architecture is fantastic, the distressed Italian plaster with post and beam porch is absolutely gorgeous. The grounds are adorned with olive and oak trees along with an acre of rolling green lawn, the perfect place for a picnic.

Celicia greeted us with a smile and served up our flights of wine. I requested a glass of the 2008 Eros cab thinking that I might be denied like the experience at the Firestone. Much to my pleasure Celicia immediately pored up a very generous amount of the best Cab I had ever tasted. Thank you.....

The Sunstone has the ability to host private parties without closing the tasting room. Some of the private parties are held in grottos that are built into the hill side. The entire winery has something for everyone, picnic for the family or an intimate conversation under an olive tree, you can't go wrong with Sunstone.

I love visiting this winery so much I joined the club. The winery is in a wonderful location along the the Santa Ynez River off the beat and track. You feel like you found a special place in heaven. It is a perfect location for a picnic with a wonderful glass of wine in the sun or catch it at the end of the day for a start to a wonderful evening. Enjoy the wine, land and the feel of the place.

Sunstone is a beautiful place to enjoy wine. There is plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas. Because people are spread out there isn't a backup at the counter so sampling wine is easy - even on the Memorial weekend when we visited. The indoor and outdoor areas are perfect for events. Highly recommend.
