“Meets basic needs”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

Basic needs are met in this hotel but nothing more. The room is quite spacious, however, and the sink is separate from the shower and toilet which is practical when more than one person is staying there. The breakfast which is included in the price is fair at best: bagels, bread, pastries, 2 cold cereals, instant hot cereal, apples and bananas (if you're lucky - there was no fruit at all for 1 of the 4 days I stayed there), coffee, hot water for tea, and some juices. There's a TV with bad reception on in the breakfast room. It was nice to have a pool but it wasn't heated. When a friend called me at the hotel and asked for me by name, he was told there was no one there by that name!!! It was quite hot so the A/C goes on and off all the time and is noisy but at least you can keep the room at the temperature you want.

The Vagabond was shabby, there's no other way to put it. Initially, the room looked OK, but upon closer inspection, we realized that most things in it were beat up. The lampshades looked like they'd been run over, and the bathroom towel rack, too. C'mon! Those are cheap items, and they should have been replaced long ago. The small sink was placed so close to the room door that it couldn't be opened if someone was standing at the sink. The TV stand was too low, and had some kind of wooden rack thing on top of it, making it hard to place items there. The rugs were really abysmal, especially in the hallways and corridors. Someone had smoked in a stairway - which is clearly against rules, as there are signs everywhere - and left ciggy butts on the floor. It smelled smoky and bad. The area outside the door to the parking lot was very dirty with trash and cig butts. The breakfast room, though large with lots of tables, seriously looked like a wildman had been in there, throwing things all over the place. The trash can was so overflowing that the trash was on the nearby counter! To top it all off, the windows in the room were too thin, or maybe not seated properly, as we heard traffic noise from the nearby highway all night long. I've stayed in a lot of motels near a highway and it does not have to be this way. I don't know how they do it, but some places have tight, thick windows, and it's surprising how little you hear. Not the Vagabond, though. I should also point out that it's not exactly cheap to stay here. The location is good, and the rooms are spacious, but man, do they need an upgrade!!

Upon checking in I was greeted by the motel clerk BK. He was very accomadating & professional. He gave me a price that was comparable to the other motels nearby without the rifraf that stays there. My room was clean & quiet & my bed was comfortable. Very good accomadations at an affordable price. Upon check out, Bebek thanked me for staying & welcomed me back again.

We stayed one night while visiting family in the area. I was a little concerned about booking a room here because of the reviews but it was in the area we wanted to be. We found the rooms to be clean, the front desk people were friendly, and it was quiet. The room was affordable. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here on a road trip north up the coast. This is a good budget choice. If you are looking for an affordable place that's close to wine country this is it. The rooms were VERY clean. We were not familiar with the area at all and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone. It's not a luxury hotel, but this is a decent place to plunk down for the night. Do it with confidence.

I have stayed here multiple times and have always had a good experience. No other hotel in the area comes close in value. The rooms are clean and quiet. Nice little continental breakfast in the morning with coffee and bagels. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's an excellent value and I would recommend to anyone travelling in the area
