Our family recently visited over the Christmas Holiday at the The Gables and had a wonderful, peaceful stay. The hosts were extremely helpful in everything that we required, and the breakfasts were top notch. I would definitely go back to stay with Pam and Larry at The Gables. The house is very lovely and just what you would expect in the Sonoma wine country area.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Sunset Room and it was on the back side of the house. It was beautifully decorated...

Most of the Victorian B & B's I have stayed at are similar - interesting house with well decorated rooms and good breakfasts. What sets this one apart, besides a wonderful location, is the dedication of the proprietors to provide outstanding service and doing everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. Other reviews have talked about the wine tastings and the cookies and all that is there, but again it is the service and warmth of the owners that made this a great stay. Pam and Larry took over this property last June and are clearly the perfect couple to run a B&B. We very much enjoyed our 3-day stay and would definitely return.

Room Tip: We stayed in the "library" toward the back of the house - it was great!

Owner/operators Pam and Larry left St. Louis for the quieter charm of wine country, and you'll be lucky to spend time in their peaceful B&B located just off a two-lane highway a bit south of Santa Rosa. My wife and I stayed two nights at a time when the slow season was just beginning and with Pam and Larry preparing for a well-deserved vacation after going non-stop since taking ownership in June. We were still made to feel like the priority. That Larry can cook, now, and their property is immaculate (with especially comfortable beds). It's easy to see these guys are trying hard to develop relationships with area wineries, as they have begun hosting tastings on Fridays and Saturdays (something I'm told the previous owners did not do). Both also must have spent some time out and about, as their tips for places to visit in the area were spot on. In short, these are the kind of people you love to see succeed while reaching for a dream. Give them a try and you'll be glad you did.

Room Tip: If highway traffic is a concern, you might want to request a room on the back side of the house. Not...

Pam and Larry were outstanding hosts, great food, charming period rooms and overall a wonderful stay. The wine tasting on Friday and Saturday with tasty treats was such a nice touch and our hosts shared a favorite bottle of their wine with us at the end of the evening. Great stay and we will be back!

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are quieter.

We booked here one night. I wish we'd booked here for a week. Pam and Larry greeted us as we drove up. A quick tour of the beautiful house revealed no detail had been overlooked. Fresh cookies, a place to make coffee, water in a lovely decanter in our incredible Parlour Room. Oddly, some Trip Advisor reviews had cautioned of rooms at the front of the inn citing car noise....ridiculous. It was perfect. And yes, there was a sound machine in the room just in case. We never turned it on. Our room was HUGE. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Our only possible suggestion would be to change the shower fixture - regulating temps was a bit of a challenge :) We had a wine tasting on site last night...so wonderful with great food to accompany it. Their restaurant recommendation was perfection. Breakfast this morning...a joint Pam-Larry effort...was just spectacular. Overall, we think this was a great experience. Oh, and you do get a wine passport for two letting you attend tastings for free...and they will make bookings for you. Sadly, we had to leave before we could enjoy this! GO THERE!

Victorian B & B’s can be decorated “over-the-top frilly “but this one remains tasteful . Consistent with the period, though, the floors creak and light fixtures are quirky. We stayed in the Garden View room which was spacious and very comfortable, although the room configuration was unusual: the bathtub and toilet were in separate, tiny cubbies, while the sink was right in the sleeping area. This room had a bonus foyer area just large enough for a day bed, so the extra space was wonderful. Bedding, linens, comforters were very cozy and we slept well. The hosts serve breakfast on a precise schedule – 9 am - in a very lovely dining room. We would have preferred an earlier start. 3-course breakfasts were expertly prepared and beautifully presented although a bit rich for our everyday tastes. There is a patio and lavender garden for guests to enjoy, and the hosts provided for a complimentary wine tasting the weekend we were there. A very nice visit overall.
