My husband and I were staying at the hotel with another couple and had dinner on a Friday night. We waited to be seated, or at least acknowledged. When we finally were seated, we waited for someone to notice we were there. Three of the four entrees were delicious, the fourth, a mushroom risotto, was almost inedible. It had way too much oregano in it and enoki mushrooms, which didn't add much mushroom flavor. The waitstaff were overwhelmed with the number of diners. We would try it again but only if service improved. The restaurant itself has lovely wood walls and is minimally decorated. The ambiance would improve greatly if tablecloths were used during dinner. The space is spare and there isn't anything to absorb the noise.

Three of us had dinner here, and after reading the variable reviews I didn't quite know what to expect. When we walked in I was pleasantly surprised to find the decor and ambiance more upscale than I thought it would be, with high-backed leather chairs, wood flooring and a wall of wine. It's not a place you'd expect to find BBQ but my husband is a BBQ fan and he enjoyed the ribs very much and reported that they were cooked perfectly. I had the lobster bologenese, which was tasty and well-prepared, with big chunks of lobster and a rich, creamy tomato sauce. Our friend had a very intriguing wedge salad that was completely different from any wedge salad I've ever seen and it looked delicious, with grilled romaine topped with a slice of pork belly and poached egg (which was slightly overcooked but didn't detract much). The service was steady. It was a good deal on Groupon and we all enjoyed our meal.

Stayed at the Fountain Grove Inn, stopped in Equus for a night cap. Nice bar, excellent selection of whiskeys - all styles. Prices reasonable.

We liked attentive staff (lady and a young man) serving us during the breakfast and the lady who packed our lunch to go. Food was good and we liked our salads, sandwiches, omelets, fresh fruits and selection of tea.

We have been to Equus many time over the years and the food has been from average to excellent. Lately, however, it seems that there is not a lot of oversight at the restaurant and service can be spotty. The bar area is nice, but depending on the time and day it can be a zoo, with lots of people, extreme noise level and service that is almost non-existance, so be careful when you go. They have a happy hour, but that generally is busy, loud and lacks good service.
