“Excellent high quality food”
Reviewed July 22, 2009

Went here on business lunch, very surprised at the quality of food and small atmosphere. This place is very small, well decorated, but the food was superior. I had their special some kind of Tomba tuna, and it was excelelnt. Service was nice, as it was busy at lunch hour. Pricing indicitive of what you'd expect for upscale restaurant.

“Outstanding -- fun tasting menu”
Reviewed June 28, 2009

Low-key atmosphere, open kitchen. At night the restuarant expands into the hallway of a small "mall" (not really a mall, just a hallway with several atores and offices. We sat inside the restaurant, but thought it might have been strange to be sitting in the outside area. Food was fantastic -- it's worth splurging on the tasting menu. We told the waitress the few things we don't like or can't eat and the chef took that into consideration when creating the menu for us. Everything was beautifully presented. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

“Seven course tasting menu-AMAZING!”
Reviewed June 8, 2009

We decided to try a new place on our recent trip to the area and based on some reviews selected Syrah for it's unique approach to a tasting menu. I can not recommend it highly enough. Easily one of my top 10 dining experiences including some spectacular restaurants in this country and Italy. The tasting menu is expensive by my standards. We're not from the Bay area where everything runs a good bit higher than we see ordinarily. but it was well worth the splurge. The quality of the food was top notch, the presentations were beautiful, the wait staff was charming, and the most fun was not knowing quite what was going to come as the next course. We were given the chance to express any dislikes or aversions, and allergies. I'm allergic to bell peppers, which almost always eliminates some choices from a menu and I can not eat cream (lactose intolerance big time). They worked around those issues seamlessly. It was one of the few times that I've had a fabulous meal at a fine restaurant without having to worry about becoming ill a few hours after eating. We also enjoyed the ambiance. It is not a big, noisy place, like so many restaurants today, but rather an intimate spot to dine. The regular menu looked great as well, but for a unique dining experience, I would highly recommend the tasting menu. Buon appetito!
