Traveling from Maine, spending a week of business in LA and SF, we ended our trip with a few days exploring, eating and tasting, Wine Country. On the last day, we met up with a local couple and inquired of their favorite restaurant. Without hesitation, they said Spinster Sister's; a restaurant that opened just 7 months ago, but has quickly become a favorite!. It was Saturday and they don't take reservations. So, we waited until 8:30 pm; which was not at all difficult given the indulgences of the day. Spinster Sister's is a few blocks away from the main street, in more of a residential area. Parking was easy enough. Surprisingly, the restaurant was only half full (it filled up again with the late crowd). Nonetheless we opted to sit at the bar. We met interesting people, including the owner Giovanni. He is absolutely charming, worldly, and passionate about food, wine and the town of Santa Rosa; the bar and waitstaff are a delight as well. We enjoyed amazingly delicious and inventive foods; including, brussels sprout chips, ceviche calamari salad, and burrata with butternut squash caponata. Everything was perfectly prepared, beautifully presented and proved an explosion of flavors! We learned the chef is from Maine; our loss, Santa Rosa's gain! The bartender (also a most talented singer, who sang a few impromptu numbers at the end of the night!) made great wine recommendations from local boutique wineries. Overall, we would say, don't pass through Santa Rosa without making it to the Sister's!

This wonderful hipster restaurant has a welcoming vibe even if you are not a hipster. Our brunch was delicious and filling. It was apparent that fresh, local ingredients are the stars here as well as the engaging, efficient wait staff. It was fun to sit at the counter and have a front row seat to the bustle of the open kitchen and service area. Will definitely come back for other meals in the near future.

We stopped in here one Saturday afternoon when we were looking for someplace new - and what a fun surprise! They have a great wine menu - with lots of choices by the glass. Their food menu was limited, since we were there between lunch and dinner, but that didn't matter. What they had available were their small plates, and they were amazing! We had the most wonderful smoked medjool dates, and a duck terrine that was delicious! Since they had so many choices of wine by the glass, we were able to order something that paired with our food each time we ordered something new. The service is excellent too. Come here to relax and have good food!

I went to dinner here with my sister, and guess what!? We're spinsters :) Nice people and service, a bit noisy probably due to the concrete walls and other bare surfaces. They serve family style dishes, that is, they put the serving dish in the middle of the table and you share. We had kale with bacon and apples for a salad, very tasty. The crispy chicken with beans and capsicum (peppers) was also good. Dessert was a cookie plate, and a chocolate pudding with caramel and salt on top. Delicious, as was the decaf coffee. Go early for dinner to get a seat, and have dinner with a bit less noise.

The only factor stopping this rating from being outstanding is something that is both a terrrifc asset and a downfall....the windows. Our benedicts were wonderul. One of my husband's eggs was a tad past poached but the luciousness of the hollandaise compensated. Service was very gracious and unhurried. Our licked clean plates were whisked away so we could linger over coffee. We were not pressured to leave even though other folks were waiting for a table because people wanted a seat away from the windows. Those lovely floor to ceiling windows let in a lot of light but boy is it hot! I sat with my shirt collar turned up and my sunglasses on throughout the entire breakfast. I may have looked sporty but I was distinctly uncomfortable. Those people that had rather wait for a seat further back in the room must have learned from experience. I have to wonder how cold it will be in winter. I'll go back but will think twice about taking a window seat.
