Traveling from Maine, spending a week of business in LA and SF, we ended our trip with a few days exploring, eating and tasting, Wine Country. On the last day, we met up with a local couple and inquired of their favorite restaurant. Without hesitation, they said Spinster Sister's; a restaurant that opened just 7 months ago, but has quickly become a favorite!. It was Saturday and they don't take reservations. So, we waited until 8:30 pm; which was not at all difficult given the indulgences of the day. Spinster Sister's is a few blocks away from the main street, in more of a residential area. Parking was easy enough. Surprisingly, the restaurant was only half full (it filled up again with the late crowd). Nonetheless we opted to sit at the bar. We met interesting people, including the owner Giovanni. He is absolutely charming, worldly, and passionate about food, wine and the town of Santa Rosa; the bar and waitstaff are a delight as well. We enjoyed amazingly delicious and inventive foods; including, brussels sprout chips, ceviche calamari salad, and burrata with butternut squash caponata. Everything was perfectly prepared, beautifully presented and proved an explosion of flavors! We learned the chef is from Maine; our loss, Santa Rosa's gain! The bartender (also a most talented singer, who sang a few impromptu numbers at the end of the night!) made great wine recommendations from local boutique wineries. Overall, we would say, don't pass through Santa Rosa without making it to the Sister's!
