The St. Francis winery is named after St. Francis of Assisi in recognition of his love of animals and nature. Appropriate for the wine region which is dotted with small farms and vineyards. There is a charming statue of St. Francis in the front gardens for photo ops. The tasting room is located in the mission-style building with a large bell tower. Huge windows let in the light and the view of surrounding foothills, vineyards and lovely landscaping in the backyard garden area. You can sit out on the back deck on warm days and enjoy the view. Tasting room staff are friendly and knowledgeable. You can find a line of the wines distributed through retailers but the wines available at the winery are definitely higher quality. If you liked the bottle of St. Francis chardonnay from your local grocery, you'll love the reserve Behler version at the winery. Lots of oak, creamy and lush. An old-style chardonnay that few wineries make in this price range today. Excellent Zins as well. Small plates paired with the wines are available. Casual and fun.

This is one of the best wineries we visited. The place was quiet, clean and the scenery is spectacular. The wine tasting is $10 per person, although they allow you to share. You get to share up to 6 wines, from the mild ones to the stronger ones. If you buy wine for more than $50 they waive the wine tasting fees. The staff is knowledgeable about the wine and extremely friendly. They also offer outdoor seating and wine tasting, which is quite remarkable.

We had booked the food and wine pairing and it was absolutely outstanding. Five small plates with appropriate wines made for a very nice lunch. A salad, seared tuna, polenta and egg, duck and a dessert. When I booked, I let them know my husband has celiac and they did a great job of accommodating him. There were people in our group who come for this on a regular basis and said this is the best winery food pairing in the area. Beautiful setting and view from the dining room. Definitely worth doing.

We had been told of its beauty of taste and of view
So we visited St. Francis, when out of the blue

We saw a red-tiled roof and a bell tower resounding
We entered the vineyard, our hearts all apounding

There, in the distance, Mt. Hood in its glory
The vineyards aglow, like a dramatic love story

With operatic wind mobiles and fragrance of rosemary
The St. Francis Vineyard with a view for all to tarry

The piece de resistance was the wine and cheese pairings
You'll think you're in heaven, on St. Francis' angel wings!

The wines are great!! I went there for just wine tasting one day and loved the wines.....we bought 3 bottles. We went back on another day for the food and wine pairing. It was truely fabulous. The service along with the courses and wine are so worth the money. You will not be disappointed. This was definitely enough for all 6 of us for lunch. Enjoy!! Oh yeah, and Karen the wine pourer at the main bar was so great. She gave us lots of great recommendations. Thanks Karen. We will be back!!
