The St. Francis winery is named after St. Francis of Assisi in recognition of his love of animals and nature. Appropriate for the wine region which is dotted with small farms and vineyards. There is a charming statue of St. Francis in the front gardens for photo ops. The tasting room is located in the mission-style building with a large bell tower. Huge windows let in the light and the view of surrounding foothills, vineyards and lovely landscaping in the backyard garden area. You can sit out on the back deck on warm days and enjoy the view. Tasting room staff are friendly and knowledgeable. You can find a line of the wines distributed through retailers but the wines available at the winery are definitely higher quality. If you liked the bottle of St. Francis chardonnay from your local grocery, you'll love the reserve Behler version at the winery. Lots of oak, creamy and lush. An old-style chardonnay that few wineries make in this price range today. Excellent Zins as well. Small plates paired with the wines are available. Casual and fun.
