There is no disputing Paradise Ridge Winery is a beautiful place. Looking out into the vistas made us feel like we were in southern France. By the time we arrived in Santa Rosa our family of 4 (2 older children) had been traveling by car for 18 days. Eating out every day in restaurants was taking a toll on us so when the opportunity to have a picnic lunch at Paradise Ridge presented itself we took advantage of it.

After picking up lunch at the local Safeway we headed up to Paradise for the wine tasting. We received a coupon for the tasting from our hotel and was able to experience over 8 different wines. The wines were pleasant and we purchased a number of bottles for the remainder of our trip.

As for our picnic lunch, Paradise has tables through out the winery for such an occasion. We sat at a table over looking the orchards. It was a hot day in mid August but the breezes were cool and views were Stunning!. Best of all, the winery was not busy that day and we felt we had the place all to ourselves. The staff was friendly, the pics we collected were amazing and the overall experience was one of the highlights of our trip.

I am always of the belief the best and most memorable travel experiences are usually unplanned and inexpensive, as in this case. Cheers!

There is no doubt that the view is great. The sculpture park is a bonus. But the place itself is pretty clearly an event venue. Walking in, we felt like we crashed the tail end of a wedding luncheon. We asked, "where is the tasting room?" "You're in it." The wines were not distinctive. There was palpable disappointment after we set aside the "menu" of various bottles and asked about tastings. There was a final note of sadness, after we declined a request to buy some wine. Take a picture and move on to a winery.

After almost 20 years living in Sonoma County, loving the outdoors, sculpture and of course wine, PAradise Ridge rocks! It's got it all. Incredible sculpture gardens, epic views, awesome places for picnic and the wine is great.

I am in the global tourism business, get paid to travel but choose to live in Sonoma County. My vote for the Best of Sonoma County winery venue is Paradise. Why do you think they call it that?

I like wine, there I've said it. And in Sonoma County alone there are in excess of 250 facilities. Every one of them has something unique about them, but Paradise Ridge is easy to find, has some of the most spectacular views not to mention some great wine. If you happen to be in the area on Wednesdays, you can watch the sunset and bring in some picnic food if you buy a bottle of their wine to enjoy. Very few facilities allow you to bring in your own food, which is why this place rocks! Find it ... you'll enjoy it too!
