Owner description: Anyone interested in plants will enjoy this site commemorating the work of famed horticulturist Luther Burbank, who introduced over 800 new plant varieties, including the Idaho Potato. The site includes an acre of gardens with many of the naturalist's creations, a beautiful greenhouse he built in 1889, and his Greek Revival home.

the history of Luther Burbank and what he did for this area is amazing and you will get a really good look at his efforts when you visit the gardens and home of this famous resident. I love flowers and plants, and have been visiting this place since I was in grade school. Enjoy

If you like botanicals, this place will excite you. Beautiful grounds, especially if you go in the Spring when the flowers begin to bloom and the trees flower. You'll see what and how Luther Burbank created hybrids, as well as his home and the hot house he used for his experiments. Plenty of off-street parking assures you can spend hours walking about the property and focus on Burbank's botanical experiments.

The waterfall grounds are nice - the traffic noise can be bothersome, but just off form the main downtown area, it is to be expected. Nice plantings.

Fascinating to see the house and hear about the greenhouse and all the things that Mr. Burbank was involved in. He helped develop the Santa Rosa plum....one of my favorites.

History of Luther Burbank is provided by volunteer docents. Home can be toured with advance planning or during certain hours (I went with a Historical Society) and the gardens are fabulous. Most of the plants are labeled and there are folks available for questions. Go on a good weather day to enjoy browsing the beautiful grounds.
