This is exactly the type of place I was hoping we would find in the wine country. The grounds were beautiful, and we loved seeing the vineyard right outside our patio door. Everyone was very friendly and we were more than pleased with our stay there. I debated quite a while before making a decision as to where to stay for our anniversary and am very glad we chose Vintners Inn.

Wow! What a pleasant surprise and a fine hotel. The grounds and the rooms were both immaculate. John Ash & Co Restaurant on the property was an enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.

We loved the Vintners Inn! It had exactly the charm we expected during a quick weekend getaway in wine country. When you pull in to the driveway (at least, in the evening) you are greeted by vineyards, flowers, rose bushes, brick buildings, and twinkle lights. So pretty!

We stayed in one of the upstairs junior suites, which was fantastic-- a huge room with vaulted ceilings, balcony overlooking the vineyard, fireplace, jacuzzi tub, and bottle of white wine! And the turndown service included some of the best chocolate chip cookies... yum!

At night, it was so lovely to sit on the balcony and stare at the stars while listening to the wind rustling through the trees and vineyard, mixed with the sound of a crackling fireplace and the courtyard fountain. Very peaceful and romantic.

The staff is really sweet and attentive all around. A delicious and complimentary continental breakfast was included with our room price, and our waiter always made a point of chatting with us about our stay in the area. The front desk gave us loads of free passes for some great little wineries nearby. We were also close to the redwoods and within 1/2 hour drive of Bodega Bay, which was great.

We were thrilled- I highly recommend a stay here if you're in Sonoma Country for any occasion, but especially a romantic one.

We read the reviews on this site and liked the location of Vintners. Went at the end of May for wine tasting in the area and it was wonderful. Flowers were in full bloom and the property was beautiful. Very quiet. We ate at John Ash one night for our anniversary and had a fantastic meal. Comp. breakfast was plenty. Everything was charming.

Highly recommend this Inn!!!

We spent two nights at The Vintners Inn near Santa Rosa just an hour from the hustle and bustle of San Francisco. We stayed in an upstairs fireplace room which was so cozy and comfortable with lovely views of the vineyard. The John Ashe restaurant had a really nice ambience with wonderful food and wine and good service. We sat in the outdoor hot tub at 8am in the morning looking out at the vines covered in the morning mist before we treated ourselves to a fabulous country breakfast.. The
Inn is so central we made trips to Bodega Bay, Redwood forest and of couse did some wine tasting... We were completely chilled out by the time we were ready to head back to San Francisco which is such a nice friendly city.

We just returned from a 2 1/2 week tour of California, and the Vintner's Inn was the nicest accommodation on our trip. Our room (really a suite) was excellent -- very plush. We got a great deal on Travelzoo that included two gift bottles of wine (in addition to the normally provided half-bottle of fume blanc).
Although others have also mentioned some of the oddities of this location (just off Highway 101, and next to a power station), you really aren't aware of anything other than the site's amenities (vineyard, beautiful buildings, fountain, etc.) when you are here. We did not hear ANY noise from outside the property. We stayed in Room 206, and I give that room and building a strong recommendation -- it is well away from the parking lot and has a nice view of the vineyards.
The continental breakfast was excellent, the breakfast room very nice, and staff very friendly and helpful. Another nice feature was the excellent coffee right outside our room and also the morning paper at our door.
As I read a previous review from another traveler, I was concerned about their experience with pulling luggage on a pebble path, and also cutting their head on a shower. While I regret their misfortune, I don't believe you should be concerned about either of these issues. You don't have to use a pebble path to get to your room, regardless of which building you are in. That may have been a shortcut to the parking lot, but every room is accessible through the central courtyard that connects to the parking lot via a paved walkway. And I specifically checked the showerhead in our bathroom, and found that it would take an extraordinary misstep to cut your head on it.

We were very pleased with the Vintner's Inn. Our room was on the ground level, and had a nice view of the vineyard across the lawn. The bed was very soft and comfortable - it was hard to get up! The free breakfast wasn't terribly impressive, but we ordered tasty entrees off the $9 breakfast menu.

It was a bit strange that that our room didn't have a DVD player, but the book said we could get one from the front desk for an additional $10. We decided to go ahead and pay for the DVD player but when we brought it back to the room, it didn't work with our TV and they didn't have another one that did. Odd.

Overall, a nice property and I would stay here again, but it was strange that they were nickel-and-diming for a DVD player when we were already paying wine-country rates for the room.
