Owned by Ferrari-Carrano Wine Company, the Vintners inn has drawn us from MN two years in a row. Because we were return guests, we got a great deal on a 3-night stay. The grounds are beautifully welcoming and charming. It is quiet, and romantic. We especially enjoyed the John Ash Restaurant and their "Front Room" bar area. Great attention is paid to detail in the lovely rooms, including fresh (big) cookies on our pillows each night! Mornings were a joy, looking forward to a fabulous (free) breakfast either indoors or out on the pretty vine-covered patio. We ended each day sitting in the hot tub, getting lost in thought with how very close the nighttime stars seemed to be. One could almost reach up and touch the Big Dipper from this beautiful resort. We'll return again.

Room:
Spacious with fireplace and balcony on 2nd floor overlooking working vineyard. Bed is very comfy. Complimentary welcome wine in the room and fresh baked cookies at turn down. Large tub for soaking and plush robes included. Room is clean and well maintained with luxurious appointments.

Breakfast:
Deluxe continental is included (pastries, great croissants, hard boiled egg, fruits, cereal, coffee, juice). Hot breakfast available at extra cost. We received special coupon for hot breakfast pay one for two persons but didn't use it since the included buffet breakfast is enough.

Dining:
There's a really nice restaurant called John Ash but didn't have a chance to try (closed for lunch on Mondays & Tuesdays). Our package includes a $50 certificate toward dining in this restaurant. We also received 2 passes for complimentary wine tasting at Kendall Jackson (5 minute away) and Ferrari Carano winery in Healdsburg (20 minute away). The package is part of travelzoo deal.

Location:
Surrounding area is not attractive (power plant across the street) but once inside the complex it's very quiet and charming.. It's very close to the 101 freeway off-on ramp but the road going in is easy to miss. Napa is about 45 minute away, Russian River area about 30 minute, Tomales Bay Oyster on Hwy 1 is about an hour drive

Where to begin? Everything was excellent. Fine rooms, all with balconies or patios, and the plantings made for privacy. A free bottle of wine. Bed turndown, plus chocolate. Free breakfast. Great location for wine tasting, shopping, going to the Schultz Museum (but the gift shop is a downer), touring by car or bicycle through the Russian River Valley (beautiful, and not as touristy as Napa or Sonoma). Wonderful restaurant for dinner. Hot tub. Spa. Massage.
And the weather is great.

My wife and I spent 5 days in Sonoma County to get away and enjoy the California Wine Country. Vintner's Inn was recommended and once we arrived we understood and appreciated the advice. The staff was friendly and helpful. They guided us with vast knowledge of the surrounding wineries to create an vacation to remember. The room was comfortably spacious and luxurious without being stuffy and a private outdoor patio allowed us to enjoy the weather in a cozy setting. The property, accommodations and amenities were top notch. We loved the landscaped grounds and fountains and the relaxed feeling at Vintiner's Inn. Our least favorite experience was the road noise from a highway nearby. It wasn't contant, but it was noticeable at times.

My husband and I read that this hotel is the number one choice on trip advisor for the area. We called while 15 minutes out of town and were able to secure a room for the same night. The desk staff couldn't have been any nicer and helpful upon check in. They went out of their way to find us local restaurant choices and wineries for the next day. The complimentary bottle of wine was very good and we enjoyed it on our private balcony that overlooked a vineyard. What a luxory experience and a beautiful place to stay in wine country. We immediately booked for a second night and couldn't have been more pleased with our entire stay.

Room Tip: Ask for any discounts upon booking such as AAA for the best rate.

This is a fantastic place in Northern Sonoma. The room was very well-appointed with a log fire, balcony overlooking the vineyard, king sized bed and sofa bed. It was very spacious for the three of us. Each night we had turn down service with fresh cookies left on the nightstand and they left us a nice refreshing bottle of their white wine complimentary. The breakfast that is included in the room is very generous with lots of fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, juices, teas and coffee. We had a nice hot breakfast one morning which was great--more creative than your standard breakfast options and nice, not-too-large portions. The pool and gym are tiny, but that's not why you're here after all. The staff made great suggestions for our day trips and we had dessert and wine at their cosy (and fancy) restaurant next door. All in all, this was exceedingly good value for what was the nicest stay during our vacation! Only drawback is that is a bit off the beaten path and you need to drive to get anywhere

Room Tip: Check Travelzoo in case they have a good deal

Although I was slightly hesitant after reading some of the reviews about the location, we went ahead and booked a great Travelzoo package for a two night stay.

First, I will join others in dispelling the concern about the location. Yes, the road outside the inn is not so pretty. But, once you turn into the driveway it's like entering another world. The landscaping is beautiful... flowers everywhere. Our first floor room with patio was probably the most beautiful hotel room I have ever stayed in. The smell of honeysuckle on the patio wafted into our room all night.

The staff is very attentive, and the free continental breakfast is fresh and good.

We also really enjoyed the walking/jogging trail through the adjacent vineyards. What a way to start a day in wine country!

The location is very convenient off 101, for exploring both the Sonoma Valley and the northern Alexander and Russian River valleys.

We would definitely stay here again.

Cons? Hmmmm... the only one I can think of is that the bed was a little soft for our preference. And there were a few flying bugs in the room, but that was our fault because we kept leaving the patio door open. Otherwise spotless.
