What a great find! We were looking for an economical place to spend the night, but not be boring. The Glen Tavern was perfect for us. It is full of character and steeped in history. Our room was predictably small (the hotel is 100 years old) but had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable.
The in-room coffee was good, and real coffee mugs were a bonus.
Basic toiletries were provided, and a hair dryer. There was an ironing board too.
I had no trouble accessing the free wi-fi which had a strong signal.
Parking was around the back and adequate. In fact, we were able to see our motorcycles from the room window, which was nice.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
The town is a pretty place, with lots of historical buildings.
If you're expecting five star luxury, you'll need to pay more and stay elsewhere. But if you want a modestly priced comfortable stay, with no-frills this is the place.
The one negative thing I found is that the bath towels are thin and hard but that really wasn't a big deal at all. They still dried the water off just the same.More
