We stayed at this hotel for the second week of our honeymoon and it was just perfect. The rooms were absolutely lovely and well maintained. I loved the light-come-ceiling fan in our ocean view room. But the highlight of the hotel is definitely the veranda, where you can people-watch and admire the view of the beach and the palm trees whilst sipping on a G and T :)

The staff were very friendly. The only thing was that a couple of them kept asking us if we were staying in the hotel! And we were there for a week! Very strange. But on the whole they were great.

There is a bus stop practically outside the front door and it took us just 40 minutes to reach West Hollywood on it.
Santa Monica is really lovely, but we discovered the more lively Venice beach only later in our stay and would recommend visiting there. It is only a 5-minute taxi ride away.

We hope to come back soon - maybe for our anniversary!

We have just returned from our 4th stay at the Georgian Hotel...and that should tell you how we feel about it. The rooms are solid (very quiet) and nicely decorated. A suite does very nicely for 2 adults and 3 kids of varying ages. Breakfast on the veranda overlooking the ocean is so relaxing. It is also a great spot for lunch or an evening drink watching the celebs rush by in their Bentleys. Service is very good too, but the real plus's are the short walk to the beach and the pier. You can be on either in literally a few minutes walk. With small kids that makes a big difference. The beach is HUGE and you can always get a nice spot. The hotel is old (you can find its history in various places online) so dont expect a brand new type hotel. It is older, but makes up for it in character. We know new 4 and 5 star hotels too, and for Santa Monica we would not stay anywhere else. The only catch we find is the lifts are slow. I can certainly think of worse things.

My 19 year old daughter and I loved the Georgian for it's location and pretty veranda. The only thing I wasn't happy about was that when we got back to our room one afternoon, we found the door left open. The security latch had been flipped so the door couldn't close all the way. I reported this to the front desk and they said they would tell management about it. Nothing was stolen so it wasn't a big deal but I did expect at least an apology from management. I never heard from them at all.
Aside from that it was a great stay. I didn't find our room too small as others have said, we had 2 queen beds, and there was plenty of room to move around them. We also had a good view of the pier. Breakfast on the veranda was good but expensive. We got a great deal on our room through AAA. Short walk to Third St Promenade, the Pier, the Farmers market.

Excellent location - Third St Promenade and the Santa Monica pier/beach are within strolling distance, behind and ahead of the hotel respectively. Venice Beach and Main St are close by as well. Freeways and major roads leading to/from Hollywood/Downtown LA are minutes away. Ample parking facilities at and around the area.

Staff is courteous and very helpful and responsive to questions and requests, contributing to a personal, familiar experience.

Rooms and hotel decor is charming (nice lifts and bathrooms), well-maintained and cozy with good beach-front views though we did not get to enjoy that due to the weather/visibility. The bed is incredibly comfortable!

Overall I would rate this as the best of the 4 hotels we stayed in over the course of our holiday.

The only minus point that comes to mind - we did not manage to find good food in the area though there are some (pricey) recommendations. Also you may want to skip rooms near the lift to avoid noise.

Just returned from a very pleasant stay at the Georgian Hotel. The staff are really wonderful...very helpful and friendly. The location can not be beat. Right across from the beach access and the pier, and short walks to dozens of restaurants and the 3rd Avenue Promenade shopping area. Santa Monica is a great vacation location, and the Georgian is a perfect base. We had coffee and delicious full breakfasts on the veranda and also inside in a cozy breakfast area. (Lunch and dinner are not served.) A little bar opens in the evening for a glass of wine or cocktail. We stayed in a room with two double beds on the south side on the 8th floor. Very clean, comfortable beds with down comforters and duvets, many pillows and free wireless internet. Bathrooms are not large, but the room was quite spacious and elegant. Valet parking at a fair price for this area ($21 per night, come and go as you like), and our car was always ready in minutes after requesting it. We will return and feel very comfortable recommending this hotel for those who want a fair price, great location, comfortable room, elegant hotel with character, and hospitable staff. If you want a swimming pool and attitude, stay elsewhere! We travel extensively, and this hotel will now be among our favorites.

The Georgian is a great stop when in Santa Monica. Right across from the beach and in the midst of some great walking, restaurants and shopping. Our only complaint was that the air conditioner in the room did not seem to working very well.

This is one nifty old hotel.... rooms are small but spiffy. Definitely has charm, character and a gilded age flavor - the elevator, like the foyer, is out of the 1930's. It has a decent restauraunt in the front lobby, coupled with a fabulous view of the pacific. Santa Monica is a funky place - brimming with food, drink, culture, shopping, street performers and street people. Accessibility to LAX w/o a car isn't so good. The beach, the palms, the Santa Monica pier, the promenade are all within a few blocks walk. While highly reccomended, the rooms are not cheap - so this isn't a place when you're travelling on GSA per diem.
