Chez Jay may look like a dive, but I had a great meal and enjoyed the atmosphere. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the price was reasonable. I ordered the sand dab, and it was delicious.

Looks are not everything and this place at face value looks like a dive.........but with tremendous flair and style. Don't let the looks fool you as I saw several people look in and walk away. Food is outstanding, service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere just brings it all together. Great experience on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

This place is oddly painted on the outside,It's dark, the door's wide open I almost didn't want to walk in. But so glad we did! The food is top notch. I got a steak seasoned were really delicious, tender and cooked perfectly

The story behind Chez Jay makes the place even better. The place is a landmark.

Dinner on Saturday night was beyond our expectations. Auburn fans were plentiful and know a good thing when we find it. My husband and son had the special - Angus New York strip and I chose a filet of sole. Both were flavorful and perfectly cooked. Our waiter was great and very friendly and attentive. We got there about nine and were happy and departing by ten pm. Highly recommend this place for a great meal and fun atmosphere.

Everything about this place takes you back in time. From the banquet-style chopped iceburg salad (I'll always be a secret fan...) to the full-plate menu, the whole experience is a flash back in time.

This is not the kind of place where you ask for dressing on the side, no this, substitute that. It's the kind of place where they serve plates of food.... everyone gets the same fresh vegetable, a choice of starch, and some protein. Proteins were all very good.... steak and seafood were cooked perfectly. Appreciated the inexpensive and very good house wine.

There's a sense of the old being very cool again here.... so unusual in the land of Santa Monica Hip-New-New. If you go on a nice evening, be sure to walk in the new park next door... it's a magical spot and designed by the guy who did the NYC high line.
