The Lobster is at the base of Santa Monica pier so the view is unbeatable. Not only do you get to watch the water, you also get to see the steady parade of oddballs in the pier area - highly entertaining. It's pricey - $20+ sandwiches - but the food is good and plentiful. The lobster roll and the clam chowder are their standard bearers and are definite must-orders. Don't order lobster though - way too expensive and is flown in from back east. Wait until you're the east coast to get your lobster. Service is very spotty. You'll get a handsome "out of work actor" type for your waiter who knows the menu well and appears attentive but after you order you won't see him again. Food takes well over 1/2 hour to arrive. And they don't even bring it all together. Four of us ordered the clam chowder but they only brought 2 of them - 15 minutes later they brought the other 2 ... Of course the first two were cold by then. Definitely recommended for the experience and decent food but be prepared to spend well over 2 hours there - don't go if you're in a hurry!
