“Fun and incredibly well done weekend brunch”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

Met a few friends here after spin on a Saturday. The place was very crowded and and alive with people and their families, a very vibrant environment. We sat at the bar, the server was great, engaging us in conversation while he prepared drinks. We each ordered something different from the menu and wound up sharing as everything was simply outstanding... Of course, we sampled and shopped a bit after lunch...

“Country in the City”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

Farmshop in Santa Monica is an engaging location for many reasons. Excellent breakfast dishes (try the Shirred Eggs) and relaxed atmospherer make for an enjoyable morning. The prepared foods, chesse displays, bakery, etc. are great for just walking around and looking at the variety of items. A great place to start the day.

“Not on my list”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

Trendy places come and go. Coming to the Farmshop gave me the impression that two years from now, no one will remember anything about this restaurant. First off, noisy, full of families with children all over the place. Typically west side folks think it is ok to have their children use restaurants as playgrounds. I should have been more aware of this. Not the Farmshop's fault on this matter.
As for the food, rolled omelet was ok, too much cheese, good coffee, service was fine. As for the cost, $15.00 is steep. I get this place is in Brentwood, usually do not complain about cost but eggs are not an expensive item, no matter what part of town you are in. Maybe I am missing something, my take is, if this type of overpriced, trendy place is what attracts you , your call. Not
coming back here.

“High-key, high-end, but worth it”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

Yes, the place is distractingly affluent, maybe that's part of the appeal (or maybe that turns you off.) Hey, it's Brentwood.
Best to ignore all of that and focus on the food. It's all delicious at Farmshop. The quality, the presentation, the atmosphere, it's worth it. It's a bit of everything, a bakery, butcher, charcuterie, a terrific selection of wine, beer, and cheeses, kitchenware, prepared food, and they cater.
Two other shops to check out while you're here: Poppy Store and Edelweiss Chocolate Factory. And there's a good bookstore, too, Diesel.
It's all part of the Brentwood Country Mart.

“Skip the Fried Chicken Dinner”
Reviewed August 13, 2013 via mobile

The Farmshop can be a wonderful dining experience, fabulous seasonal foods, inspired presentations and combinations and a tasty wine list. The Fried Chicken Sunday family style dinner is NOT Farmshop at its best.
I was only in town for a few days,Farmshop has been my go to when in the Santa Monica/ Brentwood area, and the only dinner option at Farmshop on Sundays was the Fried Chicken Dinner. What a disappointment. First of all it's amazingly over priced at $45 a person. This gets a family style dinner of a tomato salad, fried chicken, corn and zucchini sauté, oven roasted potatoes and either a piece of cheese or a pistachio Napoleon. It's nothing special.
I have dined at Farmshop 15 times in the last year and this was a huge let down. The meal starts promisingly enough with a delicious salad of perfectly cooked beans, shaved radish, delicious tomatos and two kinds of local mozzarella. It was a rather small serving for four of us and we licked the plate clean. Then, after a lengthy wait, where we had to ask for bread we were so hungry, out comes the platter of fried chicken, potatoes and the zucchini and corn sauté. The chicken was nice but the fried coating was really hard and crispy an thick. The side dishes were so strongly seasoned( the potatoes were too sweet with caramelized onions and vinegar and the corn and zucchini had an overpowering seasoning that was all you tasted)there wasn't a refreshing bite to balance the chicken which was their signature Jidori style chicken, only fried. The dessert options were nothing special and Farmshop can do special. So if you want the best experience at Farmshop in The Brentwood Farm Mart DO NOT GO FOR THE OVERPRICED SUNDAY CHICKEN DINNER.
