Simply the best hotel I have stayed in anywhere in the world.

They have thought of every small detail and just made our stay an absolute pleasure.

Food, service, facilities, location, rooms, you name it and it is brilliant.

Other hotels could learn a lot from how this hotel operates. Can't wait to go back!

My wife and I travel to Santa Monica 3 - 4 times a year to see our Son, daughter-in-law and our 2 granddaughters. We never think twice about where we are going to stay - it has to be the Loews. Every member of the staff makes our stay with them nothing but the best of times. As my granddaudhter said on our last visit as we swam in the pool - "I love this place" !

Only a handful of rooms actually have a full ocean view. Some only have a partial view, while others have no ocean view whatsoever. It is close to the Promenade, but after dark, that area is kind of sketchy with all the homeless people lurking around. For a upscale resort hotel, why do they have double beds in the rooms instead of queens?
The short Hispanic lady, I think her name was Lourdes working at the front desk seemed like she didn't want to be there at all, and that serving people was so not what she wanted to be doing.
The restaurant has a nice view, but the food was okay. Considering the food in the area, this place is just okay compared to them.
I remember years back coming to this hotel, and they use to have one of the best wine lists, but now they have seemed to drop that incredible list, for a mediocre at best wine list.

Room Tip: Get a room facing west. High up.

Dear Central Coast Wine;

Thank you for your comments, and for your return visit to our hotel. We truly appreciate your valued business. Please rest assured that all your observations will receive appropriate follow up, and also please know that it is our future intent to replace our full size beds with queen beds wherever possible. In terms of view, yes there are rooms in the hotel with city views, and our reservations team will be happy to guide you in your next booking to ensure we meet, or exceed, your view expectations. Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to Los Angeles.

We were given a room the faced the street and had 2 beds. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and had saved and planned for this trip for a long time. When I asked at check in if we could have a better room, it was done immediately and with a smile. Our new room was stunning and offered views of the beach, Santa Monica Pier and Malibu, a giant king size bed and a TV in the bathroom, as they say, it's the little things.

All the staff from check inn, the concierge, the bellman, valet and doorman were all super friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is beautiful and the pool and outdoor eating area was absolutely perfect offering lovely food by the pool.

Douglas in the hair salon did my hair for me and he was lovely, friendly and very helpful. We went to dinner at the Penthouse on the top floor of the Huntley Hotel, what a treat with views of both the beach and the city lights. The food here was a little slice of heaven, I would highly recommend this place for any meal, brunch, lunch or dinner.

We are definitely planning on another trip to Santa Monica and Loews will be our first choice!

(2 things I would like to see change..... The parking is far too expensive and the wifi should be free. This was the only hotel on our trip that we had to pay for wifi and parking. $33 per day and then tipping the valet every time we wanted the car, turned into a rather expensive parking rate. The hotel is expensive enough without those crazy added charges).

Room Tip: Ask for a beach facing room.

My son and I started our month long holiday to the USA in Los Angeles and on the advice of our travel agent stayed at this hotel. We found it to be extremely guest friendly. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant, our room was clean with excellent amenities. The concierge was most helpful in advising us about day trips. We would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to spend some time in Santa Monica. We were within walking distance of the pier, the shopping areas and the Hop on Hop off buses.

Two nights here last week. Amazing location, right on the beach with the design taking great advantage of the site. Every person I encountered on the staff could not have been more genuinely friendly and helpful. Often went out of their way to find a way to make my experience better. My room was very clean, all the appointments in gentle tones, and the bed was as good as I expected. Certainly quiet enough for the center of a city.
I usually try to avoid hotel dining rooms. Generally, pretty mediocre and predictable. This one was a great exception. I think five different staff members found a way to make the experience great. My server was most helpful and just right level of presence. The Santa Monica Chili is one of the most carefully prepared dishes I have ever tasted. Could have been a bowl of rubbery shellfish, but each bite was tender. The grilled swordfish, suggested by my server, was just right and very fresh.
I read several of the other reviews, and I must say, I could not have had a better stay anywhere.

Stayed here years ago and really enjoyed it so decided to come back this time. This time it is not so appealing. It is not inexpensive and even worse when you get into costs like breakfast which will run you $32 for a buffet brekkie or go a la carte and pay $16 for eggs then add toast $5 and coffee $5 which is a tricky way of pricing breakfast. The WIFI is one of those choked down versions which won't allow you to use some programs like for instance Whatsapp and yet it does allow Skype. It does not seem to have changed a bit in more than 20 years but it is showing its age in places.

On the plus side the staff are very courteous and service is excellent. The location is not quite beachside but you do get a good view from parts of the hotel of the lovely beach and the ocean. Take a walk down the beach and you will end up at Venice Beach which will consume the good part of a day to have a good look. Going the other direction is the Santa Monica Pier which is pretty interesting.

Bed was superbly comfortable.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean view at least.
