Hotel location is very good but not many of the rooms actually look straight out onto the Pacific .Room amenities good but reception tried to bill us for the mini bar which we did not use, and we were not the only ones. Only had buffet breakfast in hotel which as expected was over priced.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a pool or pier view at rear of the hotel.

I also found the walls paper thin and the noise of couples nextdoor annoying so used earplugs....the food was great but the wine by the glass tasted vinegary as if the bottle had been open for a few days and the top not screwed back on properly. You get a mixed clientelle of single businessmen at meetings and conferences as well as meeting guests in the lift in their wet bathing suits and pool towels. The staff seemed out of their depth but the location was so good with stunning views it made up for the more 3 star feel of the hotel. There are no beach towels or beach umbrella's/loungers provided. Bring your own toiletries. Our tv reception was fuzzy and I was only given a put you up bed for my son who is broad shouldered and 5'9" tall.

I purposely choose the Loews hotel as I wanted to stay at the least once in the family-owned chain (the chain is only present in North America). It will be probably the first and last experience before a while.

The property is well maintained but lack charm and personality. Staff is very inexperienced for a 5 star hotel and does not offer much value. Interestingly enough, the hotel charges wifi fee in the room ($10 per day – while the room rate was $600+) – it seems that the management did not understand that we moved to the Internet age – like having a shower with paying water…
As in most Santa Monica hotels, the pool is tiny – but as European – I would have expected some “beach” services… nothing ! No a towel at the beach level, not a shower before entering back the hotel, not a chair or an umbrella on the beach – no bar for a drink – while the beach is in front of the hotel. It seems that Loews does not want you to use the beach while the hotel is named Santa Monica Beach Hotel…
Net, net – great location, great asset, poor management

The Loews in Santa Monica is in a perfect location. However, for the price that you pay, it would be nice not to hear the next door neighbors. The thudding went on and on. Guess I could have banged on the wall, but did not want to stop their fun.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Pier. Absolutely delightful during the nighttime.

Stayed three days. Hotel is expensive, but worth the price. On the beach, close to the pier, Santa Monica place and 3rd street promenade. Loews has done a great job in updating and keeping the hotel in good condition. Would stay here again.

This hotel offers the near-perfect Santa Monica location, and it is priced to match. I am a sucker for a good lobby and view, and the hotel offers that with a towering glass lobby. The rooms are fine, but by no means luxurious or upto the standards that you would expect from the prices, but assuming you expect that its all fine and well. The pool and patio area is not as big as it looks in the photos and is filled with children, and the patio was completely filled with people. This seems to be a family friendly hotel, and is quite cheerful. What they don't tell you is that there is a parking lot between the hotel and the beach, not that it matters much, there is a small park beside it to walk through to the beach. If you are looking to enjoy Santa Monica and the beach, this hotel is a great choice, but if you are looking for luxury, I would say check out the Viceroy or some of the other hotels. The staff was great in the limited exposure I had. Personally I prefer more updated hotels with a bit more style & I would probably not stay here again, but I do recommend it for families and those who aren't too budget conscious and want to be right on the beach. There is a major premium here for location, and I can't really argue that its not deserved.

The Loews Santa Monica is a nice, luxurious hotel. The rooms are nice (but a bit small) and the facility is clean. All this you would expect for the $700/night rates. The problem is that it is just not as welcoming as some other luxury hotels. I am not cheap, and do not mind spending money on luxury. However, to hit the guests with a $6.00/hour charge for WIFI is bad enough, but the to tell the guest that this charge is for only one device and you have to pay for each separate device is outrageous and unnecessary. I would rather them just raise the room rates a few dollars so I do not feel so insulted. Also-- coffee-- you want a cup each in the room, free. Want a second cup, $2.00. Really? Water? $6.00. We requested a roll away because my daughter and son did not want to share a bed . . .they would not do it because of fire code. When paying a lot for a resort, I at least like to feel like I am appreciated. With all the nickel and dime charges ($46.00/night for parking), it just does not feel like this facility appreciates its guests.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a small balcony and some have a larger balcony. The larger balcony is definitely wo...
