I stayed while on business in LA. Beautiful location, great bar and restaurant, rude staff and the rooms are noisy! I could hear everything next door - telephone conversations, TV, people moving around. A real let down. Save your pennies and stay somewhere else. But come back for cocktail hour ;)

Had a short stopover at Los Angeles. Walking distance to most of the local attractions including the Santa Monica Pier, shopping mall, good restaurants, cinemas, and Venice beach. Also not too far to travel to the airport (LAX).

We spent our last 4 nights in this hotel after driving along the coast road from San Francisco and staying in four other hotels along the way. Having stayed in Santa Monica before at the Holiday Inn we wanted to stay somewhere a little nicer so decided to push the boat out and spend more than we would normally on a hotel. We were not disappointed. The room was lovely, really comfortable beds, beautifully clean and a great coffee machine. The pool area was great - overlooking the beach and pier and it was also terrific to relax here in the evening with the patio heaters to take away the chil.. The staff are friendly and very helpful and we enjoyed the whole Loews experience. We had stayed at the Loews in San Diego on our last trip to the US so we knew what to expect (lovely extras like little yummy treats brought to you whilst sunbathing and fresh cookies and lemonade in the lobby)! We ate a lot of our meals at the hotel and really enjoyed our stay here.

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend with our 6 month old while visiting my sister. The location is phenomenal and I would highly recommend the patio rooms. We arrived from the airport and there was nobody to help us with our bags. Based on the class of hotel, this was very surprising and certainly not the best first impression. Check in was quick and we were early so we decided to have lunch at the restaurant - it was nice enough - great view even though my husband initially received the wrong meal. :(
We made it up to the room and the crib and refrigerator (you can request free of charge) were in there, however, I noticed there was only a shower - no tub as advertised. Also, the patio furniture on our balcony was clearly older and more outdated than ANY of the other balconies with patios (we checked by looking all the way down the line). We called the front desk and at first they tried to convince us that there was a tub (ummm, we have eyes!). The man came up to our room and was shocked there was no tub. Now, while this may not bother most people, here's a head's up for the hotel management - if someone requests a crib, they probably have an infant and will need to bathe that infant....in a TUB! Take note that even had we not noticed this, they should not charge the same amount for a room that is clearly missing an amenity. The room with no tub is 548 FYI.
They did move our room and the patio furniture was updated and it had a tub.
You cannot beat the patio view and this hotel is superior to others on Ocean Ave because the rooms overlooking the beach are not on the Ocean Ave side so it's much quieter. Eating breakfast on the balcony while the baby took his first nap was priceless.
The pool is just ok. As far as food and drink service, for the 3 days we were there, we never had a waiter or waitress approach us to see if we would like anything.
We would stay here again but if the Loews wants to be considered luxury, they need to step up customer service a lot and they should replace their beds - not the most comfortable. The benefits are location, patio rooms and kid friendly.

Room tip: Get a Grand Patio room - you won't regret it

We booked a full beach view room but on arrival were given a pool view room. After calling reception we were eventually moved to a beach view room. Reception kindly sent us some fruit and water for the inconvenience. Rooms are average sized and beds are doubles which was disappointing for the price. Overall the hotel is well positioned. Not sure if I agree with pets being allowed.
