Have been reading and hearing about Umamiburger for months. When we've gone by on weekends the place has been overflowing with customers. We went today on a Monday noon and it was no problem. The idea is to maximize the 'umami' taste, we've heard the owner speak on TV about it. We both had the umami burger to try the 'original' taste. The meat is ground fresh, the ketchup is made in the place etc. The burger was excellent. Because of the ketchup the ample burger with its toppings gets quite squishy after a few bites and needs more than the one napkin initially provided. The sides are all first rate. The service was adequate. We have to say the burger and sides were first rate and I don't think those who call it the 'best burger ever' are being more than perhaps a little excessive in their praise. Lunch with cokes, sides and no desert or booze was $40 including tip for two of us. We spent $11 yesterday for lunch at Subway. For those who consider Umami burger pricey, this is likely a fair price comparison and a measure of difference. Subway being a salad on bread with a few thin slices of protein and a bag of chips vs the pricey burger, sides and service. We will likely return and bring folks to experience this place. At $40 for a burger lunch, we likely won't be regulars.
