“Simply Fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2011

What an amazing experience! From the moment we checked in, we were made to feel like long lost friends that just made our way home! Hunter at the front desk, welcomed us warmly. Our room was wonderful! We had a corner suite and it had a lovely view of the ocean. The only little complaint that we had, was we would have loved to sleep with our patio door opened (we were on the 2nd floor), but the noise from the street (horns/late night party'ers/barking dogs, etc.) were VERY loud and kept us up, a good portion of the night. When we tried to turn the A/C on, holy cow! The A/C was like something out of a Boeing Wind Tunnel! My poor husband was sleeping closest to the vent (there is only one vent for the 800 square foot room) and he was nearly blown out of bed!

It sounds like I'm complaining and I'm really not.. .Just pointing out what I wished could have been improved on.

Food: Wonderful! Yes, it's expensive ($9 for french fries!)... But the service was amazing! The waitstaff made us feel like we were guests in their home and were highly attentive without being 'in our face'.

I really loved the fact that this hotel gives Kiehl's bath products to their guests... Very nice touch! Also, the in-room coffee was fantastic! Would have purchased some to take home, if it had been available!

I really cannot say enough GREAT things about our weekend at the Oceana. From Hunter at the front desk, to the valet team, to the wait staff, we were always blown away by their kindness and non-uppity attitudes. Yes, this is a high end hotel, but, somehow, they manage to pull off being high end w/o the high end snooty attitude! Bravo to Hotel Oceana!!

We stayed at the Oceana this weekend and were really pleased with this lovely hotel in Santa Monica. The rooms are really beautifully decorated and feel like an elegant home. The room that we had was a deluxe double and it had 2 queen beds. It was a good size and we did not feel cramped, even with our kids. The bathroom was nicely done with subway tile, and lovely floor tiles that were very clean. We enjoyed the bath products from Kiehls. We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed our dinner. The best items were the rigatoni, the chopped salad, the sliders (kids menu) and the branzino. The beet salad was not as great. For dessert, the brownie was excellent, more like a great chocolate cake than a brownie, but fantastic. Our favorite item had to be the marshmallow milkshake...unreal! We ended up ordering a second one, it was so good. The staff at the Oceana really made us feel welcome and were very nice and helpful. The front desk setup is very casual and it was so nice to have staff introduce themselves and welcome us. The valet guys literally ran over and opened the front door for us each and every time we left or came back from a walk. It was also a nice touch to have free wifi...it makes such a difference in our overall experience not to be nickel and dimed. Of particular note were staff members Kelsey, Hunter, Denver and Carol, who were all great. We will be back, for sure.

The staff at the hotel are fantastic! We booked a last minute stay at this wonderful hotel after having a bad experience at a hotel in Simi Valley. Jillian got us right in and helped create a wonderful experience for my wife and I. Also, thank you Curt, Zach, Ellen and Brian. You are all very professional and made us feel at home.

We stayed here for 2 nights in October. Talk about a treat... You walk into the hotel and into the open pool/lounge atmosphere and it is just beautiful, romantic and classy. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was so nice that we didn't even want to go out the first night, so we stayed in and enjoyed the luxury! If you have the money to spend, I would reccomend this place. And the complimentary breakfast is AMAZING.

Room Tip: All of the rooms in this hotel are top notch. You really can't go wrong.

We stayed at the Oceana for three nights in October. The location is great, with views if you have a sea view room. It overlooks a busy ocean-front road but the rooms are well soundproofed. It has an air of slightly faded elegance but atmospheric for all that. The service from all the staff was outstanding. The restaurant food is of a very high standard. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable. I would certainly return.

I can't say enough about our stay to this fabulous hotel. I had a friend that stayed here while their home was being remodeled and that's how I found out about it. It is conveniently located to everything..3rd street Promenade, the Pier, the oceanside parks and especially the beach!
I was there with my 2 teenage sons at the end of Sept and we were treated like royalty! From the Prosecco, to the gracious staff...they don't miss a beat! My favorite was that they just bought new beach cruisers for you to use to get around town. We never used the car while we were there, since the bikes were so much more fun! The room itself was so beautifully decorated and homey. We had a "Junior suite" overlooking the pool and with the windows from the restaurant, you could see the ocean. We were supposed to move to another hotel (because it was cheaper), but I called and cancelled that nite's stay because this one had so much more to offer. I would go back in a heartbeat! Look for their specials...believe it or not on the weekend we went the Holiday Inn was the same nightly price as the Oceana..Crazy! One more thing...I left a hoodie in the closet and was able to track it down and they graciously Fed Exed it to me the next day! You will love it!! Also, saw "Arnold" go by on his bike one morning...Ha!

Room Tip: Ask to Overlook pool facing the Ocean...so that you can see the Ocean(thru the restaurant) without p...

We stayed at the Oceana Hotel for 5 nights October 2011. We were greeted upon our arrival by their professional and friendly Valet Staff. From their to the front desk where, before we even checked in, we were offered wine, soda or water. This was a welcome offer after our drive from LAX.

We were taken directly to our room, a Lanai Suite overlooking the Ocean. The room was spacious, bright and cheery, with free WiFi. We stayed on the first floor and the view was great. If you can, try to get a room on the upper floor. The view from their is breathtaking!

This is one of the best Hotels I have stayed in when traveling in CA, or really anywhere. It is away from the crowd, yet just 3 blocks from the 3rd street promenade. The Valets are courteous and knowledgeable. The front desk staff is there to handle your every need, 24 hours a day. The food at the Restaurant is exceptional.

Something that really sets Oceana aside from most Hotels; after 24 hours, almost the entire staff gets to know who you are. They call you by name. They make you feel "special". I rarely see this anywhere else.

Kim Kennedy

Room Tip: Try to get a Ocean front room on the 2nd level.
