World best

I only post reviews of properties (worldwide) that I believe are close to perfect in every category. Shutters is my 7th such in 7 years. This is a perfectly sized beach front resort. Not a mega maze. No scrambling for pool side seating. A very cool and charming setting for early evening cocktails.Well appointed and spotless ( tough task for a seaside hotel ). The staff is better than great! The GM Laura McIver must be gifted to lead such a genuinely motivated and helpful team. Dieter and Eric man the discreet entrance ( I drove by once) perfectly. The pool area and particularly the bar is fun and sheltered from the action on Santa Monica Beach. Beatrice watches over this oasis leading an army of well scrubbed, uniformed attendants. One small touch is the large variety of high end faux glassware (oxymoron?) . I hate when one, two, or three cup sizes fit all cocktails. The best way to summarize is my wife and I were there four nights with our 4 geographically dispersed kids and spouses, along with 6 grand kids under 5 years old. Great fun. But what was pleasantly surprising is that my wife and I returned to Michigan refreshed and fully rested. Thank you Shutters!

Great lunch

Amazing lunch I had the $35 three course menu. Beautiful asparagus starter, lobster salad main course. Amazing view looking over the beach. Fun to watch the cyclists going up and down on the boardwalk. Delicious!

Luxurious getaway

Great amenities including a pool, a spa, beach access, and great restaurants, an amazing staff that are always willing to help, a perfect location right on the beach, this is a textbook getaway location.

Great cakes

Popped in just before noon for a drink and a snack. Treated myself to the Coconut and Pineapple cake , a big beautiful piece of delight. Also the chocolate cake and fudge brownie received the thumbs up from family members. Well done . Maybe just a little expensive would be the only negative.

Beautiful Hotel but overpriced

Very nice hotel and a good location. However for the cost there are much better choices. In room internet and entertainment are way below industry average for instance. Had trouble getting hot water in the shower the day of departure.
