“On the freeway, but for locals too”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

We like Pappys!!! They used to have 2 locations, this one and one in town. I liked the one in town best but it is no longer there.

One thing that is big on the Central coast is beans!!! They are famous for their beans. You can also buy the beans here and various other items that are ''coastal foods""

Pappys has very good daily specials at a very decent price and the meals are large.

Truck drivers seem to really like this place and the waitresses are local and very nice and pleasant.

They tend to have a lot fried food, but it is possible to get around that, the salsa is very warm, but you don't have to have it.

If you are hungry, you will have a very satisfying meal here.

“Comfort food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2013

Not too far from town. We chose this place because of the reviews on tripadvisor and was not disappointed. Tri-tip had very good flavor. They also have a bit of Italy. Very good place. Great for a family.

“Locals old school breakfast joint.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

Right off the highway, convenient and a friendly staff. First time here I had the Santa Maria omelet which was very good. Skip the country fries & get the hashbrowns. The biscuits and gravy were ok. I tried the country fried steak breakfast second time in & it was too greasy for me. Cute restaurant.

“Excellent Tri-Tip sandwich”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

Santa Maria is known for Trip-tip and you can certainly find a lot of good tri-tip. This was the most consistently delicious Tri-tip sandwiches. Their own seasoning is just right (and we bought a few to take home for $5) and the meat was always tender. Unfortunately I can't say how any of the other food was since the sandwiches are so good we always got the same thing! It's a truck stop, so don't plan on getting dressed up, but definitely worth a trip with the family.

“A+ Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs with Hash Browns and Biscuits & Gravy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2013

Nom Nom Nom Nom!! You want a hearty breakfast that is delicious, hot and fast - Pappy's is your place. Some history there with the location in Santa Maria. A bit of a goucho vibe. Waitresses there have been working at Pappy's for 20-30 years. They know their stuff, are nice and friendly.

Other delicious items include the Tri Tip sandwiches, stewes and burgers. All are great and you won't leave hungry. In fact, you won't be hungry the rest of the day. I think that's why a lot of truckers stop there on there way up and down the coast of California.

I live in Lompoc and make excuses to drive to Santa Maria to go there. Nom Nom Nom Nom.....Check it!
