we stay here for one night during the road trip from LA to home (sf area) i was worried about place since i never been fairfield inn but when i walk in there i was shock, very clean and friendly staff room was small but clean and comfortable, good free breakfast and small indoor swiming pool but it was nice for our kids(2 and 1)
i think i like this place better than courtyard @ SLO where we stayed last time and we will stay here again when we travel

this was our 3rd visit here.
Pros: ultra clean, great parking lot and doors access,
xlnt beds, towels..efficient breakfast room, fun room layout
only con: road noise on street side= stay on inside
Will continue to stay here.
(we book here when Buellton Marriott is full..as this hotel is 15-20 mi.far from our favorite wineries and food spots BUT did allow us to explore new" closer-to-Santa Maria" wineries)

Great hotel, we crashed here the night on the way down the Pacific Highway and loved it. It was brand new, we had a very stylish quiet room and the gym was great. The breakfast was very extensive, much more than I was expecting. Even though I microwaed an egg and it exploded, the staff were very good about it. The staff in general were lovely but didn't know their way around town and pointed us to a terrible Mexican restaurant. There was free high speed internet and newspapers in the lobby with was a bonus too.

My son had Allstars soccer tournaments last weekend in Orcutt so we stayed at this hotel because we prefer Marriotts. It is new. Don't believe the review about it being run down -- that is crazy. It is very attractive & the front desk staff were really helpful & friendly. Note, be sure to join the Marriott rewards club if you stay at any Marriotts & making online reservations on their website is a snap. They have coffee avail 24 hours, the rooms have a new type of card that is easier to use than the ones that you have to put in the slot. You just wave the card over a circle on the door & it opens quickly. There are 2 elevators & one is usually always at lobby level cause they are programmed to return there & open the doors.

Breakfast is always free & good. Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, bagles, cereal, make your own waffles, etc. The breakfast area is very nice with lots of places to sit & privacy from other diners if you want it, as well as a flat screen tv in there. Beds are firm. Fairfield is not a luxury brand, but is geared toward families and other travelers that want a good value for their dollar along with it looking very attractive. The colors and finishes are very pretty and made the stay so much nicer. It is decorated for the holidays now with a tree in the lobby, etc.

There is a good business area with two PC's with large flat screen monitors & printers. The hotel has free wireless in the rooms as well. The rooms have flat screen TV's--32 inch I think. Free HBO also in guestrooms.

We had no trouble with our car being in the parking lot. Santa Maria has more crime than other areas, like in San Luis Obispo county, but park close in and under a light. Also, next door to the hotel is a Farm Supply, but on the other side of Farm supply is a new shopping center with Straw Hat Pizza, Burger King, and Del Taco, as well as a market and budget factory 2U store, etc. I went twice to Del Taco, which has a drive up window as well. It is at the far north of town, and on the outskirts but this is because the City of SM has been built out for years and Marriott & the other hotels next door (Candlewood Suites, Holiday inn Express) needed vacant land to build on. It is quick to drive anywhere on the 101 Fwy.

Highly recommend this hotel. The interior doors are noisy, as they are quality, solid doors with deadbolts. We bring a sound machine bought at Bed Bath & Beyond which I take to all hotels and it drowns out all outside noises. I use the waterfall setting. It costs about $10.00 or so.

Book at room at this hotel & you should be very comfortable and happy with it. The Marriott website www.Marriott.com has several discounts you may qualify for, like AAA, senior (62 & up), government trip, etc. Get a rewards account & always log in before you reserve so you get your points which will get you a free room pretty quick. I also have the Marriott Visa card & charge everything to that, which greatly increases your points & you get a couple free nights when you sign up for the Visa card as well. No, I don't work for Marriott, our family just loves the Marriott company and the way they treat us, which is excellent.

This is a new clean hotel, with all the best amenities to offer. However it is pretty expensive, and the location is awful if you don't have a car, nothing but two more hotels nearby.

Unbelievably disappointed with the security of this new hotel. We arrived to a beautiful hotel everything was clean and new and the people were friendly. We were here to celebrate our 27th anniversary. On our anniversary day went downstairs to find our car had been broken into. The tailgate glass and the left rear window were smashed. They stole my work Laptop, Golf clubs, Golf GPS, Digital SLR camera, work briefcase as well as other items. A van, belonging to a young christian band, next to us was also vandalized. They lost all their equipment including 3 Guitars and some symbols, etc.

The cars were in a well lighted area and seemed safe but no cameras, security guard must have been asleep or non existent needless to say, It ruined our vacation having to stay an extra night to get the glass replaced before driving 4hrs home.

The hotel people although seemed to feel for us didn't help in any way to get us through this ordeal. I am very unimpressed with the way they handled the circumstance.
