“Scenic Drive to get there and Good spot for a picnic”

Rancho Sisquoc Winery

Rancho Sisquoc Winery is a nice vineyard. The drive along Foxen Canyon Rd to get to the winery is very scenic. The winery has a nice picnic area and the people there are very friendly. The wine was good and reasonably priced. The glasses that come with the wine tasting are the best of the places we visited. They were stemless and very thick compared with the other very thin and breakable glasses we got at other wineries. T

This Santa Ynez winery is quaint and lovely. It's set way off the road & the drive in is pretty. We grabbed some snacks once we finished tasting & had a bottle of wine with it outside. It was great.

First of all, Foxen Canyon Road, in the Santa Ynez Valley above Santa Barbara, is one of the most gorgeous drives to be found anywhere. Rolling hills, California Live Oaks, and uncrowded tranquility for all 10 miles of it. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the touristy wineries like Firestone or Fess Parker (on the same road), and instead make your way (off the beaten path) to Rancho Sisquoc, for that old California, family-owned gentleman farmer kind of winery experience that is now forever gone in places like Napa.

A long dirt drive leads to a compound of buildings, the rustic tasting room and beautiful grounds, complete with picnic tables. The wine is great, the atmosphere great---grab some snacks from their fridge and prepare to hang out for an hour or so. This is the highlight of the day for me on each visit to the valley.
