The hotel i thought would be of normal Howard Johnson standards The room smelled of mold and dirt. The Bathtub was peeling and I didn't even want to shower in it.
The Lady at the reception desk was the most unfriendly person I have ever met. I checked in at about 10:30pm, and she made it seem like it was the biggest inconvenience.
This should be removed from being a howard johnson
The waffle maker they had for breakfast, had watered down batter to put inside, I didn't use it, but watched someone else use it, and it was disgusting,

this place is in a wonderful location. just a stones throw from the boardwalk, and right at the end of the wharf on top of a hill. nice view of the bay.. should be ideal. but.. its kinda run down. the rooms could use an upgrade . the outside could use some paint. parking is open but kinda of difficult if its crowded.
the only good thing is that its cheep , at least in the off season

My husband and I always head to Santa Cruz for our birthday. We like to stay close to the Boardwalk and Wharf so we can walk everywhere. This motel is close and we have stayed here before. On this visit we got into our room with a faulty smoke detector, beeping. Their solution just take the battery out. We also had a toilet that would plug up occasionally, their solution give us the plunger to take care of it ourself. There were no wash clothes provided. I think it is time to find another motel.

Gave the hotel 2 stars for room cleanliness and comfort. Every other aspect of hospitality this hotel missed out on.

The room was nice but the walls were so thin i could hear the couple next door talking and kids playing. Its advertised as a view of the ocean but i had to look over 2 highways and through some buildings to see it. The breakfast is terrible. Do not eat here. The staff were the worst part. When i got there i was met with ambivalence and disregarded. When it was time to leave, i was met with anger and the staff coming to the door over and over to rush me out of the room. Dont expect "friendly, courteous, or accommodating".
